There used to be track event experts who said it was impossible to run a sub 4 minute mile.There are some track event experts interested in impacts of climate change on peak human performance that believe that if we continue to have the events outdoors in the middle of summer where the games are being hosted (and continue to disallow PED and PEC) that we may have already hit the fastest times.
That sounded an unbelievable stat so I just checked it bronze in 2012 was 9.79 same time as the first 2 and 7 beat or equalled the 4th time in 2012 of 9.88.None would’ve even made the top four in 2012.
