I know it's 40 years to the week (11th August 1984) since Mary Decker's fall but not sure there was any need for 4 guys in the 5000m heat to pay tribute by copying her. It was almost the exact same position coming into the home straight too.

The English lad is through after the incident was looked at by a judge but he did his own fair share of pushing IMHO.

In boxing it’s because it’s such a potentially dangerous sport, they’d rather give 2 bronzes than risk a serious head injury in a bronze medal bout

They used to do it in judo too. I think it's standard in combat sports.

Well we've got gold and silver from the first 2 events and we're in the gold medal race of the 3rd tonight. Top 4 in qualifying for the 4th event where we will try to qualify for the medal race.

I think Emma Finucane is the big hope, they expect 2 more golds for her.

The point is there are so many other strong teams. I would say we are second favourites in the 2 events you mention. Only 12 events in total. Hope your optimism is right pal (I’m probably an old City FOC, very pessimistic lol)

Yes, it’s a good practice tbh, less chance of unnecessary injuries, much better to give 2 bronzes

Well the 8 golds ain't happening now. Still an excellent ride from the women, who have really stepped up in the past year or so.

It’s a tablet with +1 etc to give them an idea of how the race is going

I'm surprised he got reinstated to be honest. Lots of pushing and shoving but got himself in a poor position and you're always going to get pushing and shoving when so much is at stake. Danny is a **** so no surprise his son isn't much better.

Heard it in 5 live and Allison Curbishley reckoned he was very lucky to be reinstated. Having now seen it I would say he’s definitely Danny’s son - got brushed back by the Frenchman and went sprawling, soft ****, then pretending to start a fight in an environment where he knew there couldn’t be a fight. Never was like father like son more apt
