Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

Ruben and john were rocks today especially first half.
Agreed. Ruben is a proper centre half he's unbelievable. But more so for Stones he needed that, He was on a dip in performance since the break. Keeping Neymar and Mbappe quiet should do him the world of good. They were fabulous.

Shout out to Zinchenko, What a 30 minute performance...HOLY FUCK.

I think we were worried about being dicked on the counter by Mpappe,Neymar even with 10

As fans sure we want 3.

You fuck up and its 2-2.

Now 2nd leg we can play with the hand break off.
Yep would be lovely to be coming out of it 1-3 up and they did look up for the taking, but the mood would be very different on here tonight if we could’ve taken a 1-2 lead into the 2nd leg and got done on the counter.
I know it’s a different story with away goals but look at Leeds the other week, could’ve settled for a point but went for 3 against 10 men and it came back to bite us

Brilliant brilliant second half. Pep calls for players to be brave - but looks like he was brave at half time, sending the full backs forward to create the overloads- worked a treat.

That must be the best half of football we have ever played, its one things to do that in the Premier League but to keep Neymar and Mbappe isolated and frustrated was incredible. loved it when Neymar was coming back to pick the ball up on the edge of his own area.

Not over of course - they showed against Bayern they are capable of going away and getting result, but that will do for now.
Respect to pep he really changed the game , like great managers do

Manchester City goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne to BT Sport: "It was a game of two halves. We started well in the first 10 minutes but PSG are an unbelievable team and have great quality up front. It was a shame the way we conceded. After that they had a couple of small chances. After 25 minutes we changed the way we pressed them and it became better.

"The second half was much, much better. We put them under pressure. The first goal was a little bit lucky with the way it went in, but we played great football and we did well."

What was said at half-time? "Just play a little bit more with the ball. The first half, we were a bit too rushed, trying to go forward too quickly and that's not the way we are set up as a team. In the second half we tried to find space more patiently. They're a tough team to play against. The progression we made as a team was good."

On his goal: "It set up in a perfect position. It's so difficult for the goalkeeper because he expects someone to touch it. We kept going and with the second goal Riyad is good for us. He asked me if he could take it and I said 'yes, if you believe in yourself'. He scored. Who am I to say something?

"There is still a game to go and we have to concentrate on that."

Great win!

Key stat: distance covered

PSG 102,6 km vs City 107,4 km.

PSG started better and with more intensity, but got tired and dominated in the 2nd half. They barely attacked after the half time. We were patient, calm and in full controll. It wasn't our best performance attacking wise, but the result is fantastic.

Think the 2nd leg may be somewhat similar, but we will be a bit sharper in attack after having rested most players vs Palace. Hopefully another 2:1 win.

A 3-1 could have done so much... now they need to score just 2-0 and they are through.. 1-2 means overtime.. so either win or draw from 0-0 to 5-5 idgaf

Had to weather the first torrid 20 minute storm but after that, and then second half especially, we were brilliant. Silva was exceptional.

first half we kept losingf the ball in midfield Allowing them to break on us.second half we hardly misplaced a pass and battered them
