Yeah, they don’t want him to “overthink” and will very quickly jump on him for any perceived under-thinking. Seems he has a small window of permitted thinking to avoid any criticism.
Absolutely.

I find it to be a sad state of affairs and it is one thing to come from the media and fans of other clubs but the levels of criticism he has had from people claiming to support City is quite extraordinary to me. Part of the problem is social media, part of it is unrealistic expectation and it doesn't end there but time for a bit of positivism: if Pep picks what he truly believes is his best side for this game and they execute his game plan, we will have a very good chance of a decent result tonight. Shit has happened to us and Pep to often when it comes to UCL exits, it's time for things to go according to plan.

Almost 6 hours to kick off on a Derby day and my arse would be twitching by now and I'd have a gnawing ache in the pit of my stomach. Today I'm looking forward to the game and mildly relaxed . That's what 6+ decades of following the blues gets you.

we need to be head smart. And im talking about Kyle Walker and Joihn Stones. Switch on, no mistakes, watch your man and ball. And don't make stupid mistakes. And important. No red cards! We gotta play 11 v 11. 11 v 10..., its goodnight.,

Walking around work hearing United fans talking about how they want Real or Chelsea to win the Champions League because they can't stand the thought of oil money winning it.

I get the feeling that sometimes they do it because they think it winds me up but it genuinely puts a huge grin on my face every time

Whenever oil money is mentioned , I just thank them for supporting City by putting petrol in their car. We’ll put their kind contributions towards winning another trophy ;-)

As someone else said on here a day or two ago, Stones has had an occasional lapse in him since he came back from the internationals. Just seems to lose concentration from time to time. Hope if he starts he smashes a couple in with his c*ck to calm me down...

I saw a decent article a couple of months back (Marcotti's IIRC) that said perhaps a better way to look at it was that Pep simply thinks a lot.

The fact that Pep thinks deeply about the game is one of the things that makes him a great coach. That he may appear to do more of it than normal with later stage UCL games is perhaps down to the nature of the opponents being faced.

Good post mate.

As you say, the significant changes in later stage games tend to stick in mind, especially against someone like Lyon where we should have had enough to get through. But you're right that is likely down to the opponents being faced.

On reflection, the fact that it's virtually impossible to pick a Pep starting eleven for any game, backs that up as well. I stand corrected, said the man in the orthopedic shoes.

''Over think'' does have a certain ring to it though. Surprised it isn't used more often...

Id rather Walker didn't go over the half way line tonight - he has one job and thats to keep Mbappe out of the game as much as possible. Walker isn't key to our overloads outside the penalty area and for what advantage he does give us is outweighed by his main job.
I don't want to see Mbappe sprinting away towards our penalty area unmarked with Walker caught upfield with his trousers down on a meaningless overlap run.
We can starve Neymar of the ball as I think thats the only way to keep him quiet and unable to effect the game. When he does get it I want us to fucking swarm him and make him cough up possession so he has to go and pick it up on a short pass from the back 4. He is less able to dictate play from his own half.
These fuckers are a set of the biggest diving bastards i've ever seen. Di-Maria is a fucking con merchant and Neymar is as bad. Worst in the Bayern game was Paredes
Mbappe will most likely be starting as a number 9 will be Dias and stones/Laporte job to stop him which is kind of a worry as none have great pace but Dias did do well against Mbappe in the France v Portugal game so hopefully more of the same
