I think the best 5 club sides in the world are us, Bayern, Chelsea, PSG and Liverpool. Don't really care about the order as I think anyone can beat anyone on their day.
Not too sure about Pool anymore though. Van Dijk isnt the same he was before the injury , overall defensively they aren't as good as they used to be IMO.
Mane is not as his best anymore. Firminho is nowhere near impressive. You stop Salah and Jota from scoring chances are you'll walk away with a win/draw.
I rate Real Madrid in top 5 before Pool. Pool is probably 6th best team in the world right now , and quite frankly they dont seem as good as us, chelsea , bayern or psg.

It's a fine balance. We could aim for winning all three, get unlucky and lose at PSG to a moment of brilliance, and then be too tired to beat Liverpool at Anfield... walking away with 1 out 3.

Or we could be sensible tonight, grab a draw with some rotation and go at Liverpool with fresh players and win and walk away with 2 wins and a good away draw at PSG.

Gotta make sure we don't bite off more than we can chew. Not saying I don't agree with the enormity of winning all three, but realistically it's a huge ask and not the most sensible call potentially to go hell for leather. Lots of risk, though a big reward.

I think we can have that balance if you take a few of the key players off with a good amount of time to go. Bernardo, Rodri, Foden etc. take them off for the last 25 minutes whatever the match situation and say it's up to the subs to finish the game whether that's holding onto a lead or turning a loss around.

5 subs allowed in the CL as well.

The possibility to make 5 changes allows Pep to play a pretty strong team. Pep has repeatedly said that what kills the players are the final 5-10 minutes of a game.

So, we may start with our strongest team (that vs Chelsea) and sub key players: Bernardo, Kevin, Grealish...or start with several changes from Chelsea (Stones, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Torres...) and sub in Kevin/Foden, Rodri, Jesus to finish the game strongly.

psg won’t fight like mad sorry
They may. The league is a walk in the park for them. I watched 10 mins of a game they were winning 1-0 recently and their players were walking. It was like watching City when we are 3-0 up.
This game is much bigger for PSG than for City. This what they bought Messi and Neymar for. They dropped points in the first game. They will be really up for this, or they should be. If they are not, they might as well pack up.

Think we’ll see a bit of rotation and can see stones, Fernandinho, Mahrez starting but would be surprised if Foden, DeBruyne and Grealish are all left out
You are probably right. Was looking to have those 3 fresh for Liverpool. But I suppose Pep is less inclined to do that.

Ederson
Walker
Dias
Stones
Ake
Ferna
De Bruyne (45 mins)
Grealish (60 mins)
Sterling
Mahrez
Torres

yeah I’m thinking they won their first game as well

Let’s just hope accommodating Messi Neymar and Mbappe will mean we overrun them

I never want us to lose but would gladly swap a good result tonight for one at Klanfield on Sunday.
Just no injuries tonight and then we can boss the Dippers at weekend

I hope so. That could be a weakness for them. I am not sure Messi will start.

I am wary of something unusual from Pep. All adds to the intrigue.

He should

Not if one of them is Dinho because he’s great, I love all he’s done and all he is but, at his age, he’s not a fast as he once was and he doesn’t always have it in his legs to start a game and play at high intensity for 95mins.
If we’d have played him against Chelsea instead of Rodri then IMO our press wouldn’t have performed as well.
I think he’s perfect for games against sides who defend deep against us or as an extra DM, to bring on against tired legs, to close out a game where we’re winning - but at this juncture he’s not the man for an end to end game where the opposition will come at us fast and in waves.

Want us to make a statement tonight by battering these and showing the rest of the teams that we intend on going one step further this season in this competition.

Their squad is much better this season. They've signed Donnarumma, Hakimi, Wijnaldum, Messi and Ramos (even though he's injured for the first game, he'll be back for the second).

I don't really disagree with anything else you've said. But if any one of Messi, Mbappe or Neymar has a special game they'll beat us tonight.
We'll have to isolate messi , neymar and mbappe, keep them from getting the ball as much as possible. We did keep neymar and mbappe pretty quiet last season.

For one half. Mbappe didn’t play the second game. They were strong in the first half in Paris.

Hakimi worries me.

Hakimi has been good so far for PSG but on the fair side he only faced farmer league teams from France. This will be their first game aganist a proper team. Just wish Pep uses our best options defence wise , up front he can do the usual rotation, but at the back we need our best options otherwise we will concede

Wonder if Pep will be tempted to play Rodri and Fernandinho together tonight, with Cancelo and Walker stepping infield, just to stop the ball getting through.

Given their mighty attack, I fancy Pep may play a back five of Cancelo-Laporte-Dias-Stones-Walker and rely more on our counter-attacking prowess than usual.

Cancelo is going to have a very hard time with Hakimi and Messi on his side.
