Paris Saint-Germain (H) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

The more you see that second goal, the more a thing of beauty it becomes. The weight on Kev's through ball, the timing of Phil's run and the slide rule pass across for Riyad to stick it away. The ultimate example of a counter attacking goal. God, I love this club.
The best thing about that goal has been overlooked. Kev has to check himself because the second pass is behind him. He does this and releases a perfect weighted pass all in one move. It’s world class.

And don't forget how Mahrez lifted it over the keeper giving the keeper no chance. Zinchenko's first pass was pretty smokey too! A brilliant goal.

This.
Trying to boot the opposition off the pitch isn't what you call the "dark arts", that's just thuggery.
Fernandinho, on the other hand...
Absolutely. The dark arts as practised by the unrivalled Ferna are the result of expert reading of the game, awareness of where everyone is on the pitch and first class, instant analysis of how a situation is likely to develop. The intervention is executed by a tug on a shirt, a trip or obstruction. It is never the mindless violence shown by some of the PSG lads, who had completely lost their heads in the face of City's excellent organisation and play.

Just before Di Maria kicks him. Fern digs him in the stomach or yanks his shirt as he passes him. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Totally agree. Pep’s always gone on about taking our chances and this was perfectly executed

It's also a constant reading of the game, of when the ref will or won't let something go, how other players will react. He has the ability to calm players who should be angrier because he's just fouled them and wind players up who have no reason to be. The guy is like Derren Brown or something.

This is one of those things where they're so bad you can just ignore them.

1 Keeper let in 2 goals and didn't make a meaningful save. The other kept a clean sheet, claimed 100% of the balls into his box and set up the decisive goal with a 70 yard pass. Both get 5.

John Stones is a colossus, blocks, tackles, intercepts everything that goes near him. Rated lower than Marquinhos who did....fuck all?

Fernandinho getting a 4 is the icing on the cake.

They pride themselves in their player ratings but unfortunately they've rather lost their heads like their home team.

Sure DiMaria got higher than Neymar and he was sent off lol
