Past their best when they joined us but were great players in their pomp City XI

If we're choosing these players based on their very best form elsewhere, despite most being letdowns or simply past it but effective here then here's my Past it! City XI

---------------- Schmeichel -----------------
------------- Kolo ------ Pearce (vc) --------
Maicon -------- Hamann -------- Tarnat
------------ Vieira (c) ---------------------------
-------------------------- Lampard --------------
------------ Deyna -------- Weah --------------
--------------------- Fowler -----------------------

Subs: Seaman, Demichelis, Sylvinho, McManaman, Benarbia, Kanchelskis, Cole.
Dangerous bench that covers most of this teams injury needs.
--------------------------------------------------------
Past it manager: Sven-Goran Eriksson
He has experience with playing a similar system to what I'm trying to implement here.
--------------------------------------------------------
I've gone with a kinda 3 at the back with Maicon and Tarnat acting as attacking wingbacks with enough energy to help out defending, Hamann will sit deep at all times he is like a 3rd more advanced CB/DM stopper/ deep lying playmaker with his great passing range which was a very underrated aspect of his game... His position here is not too dissimilar to his Bayern days or when played for Germany sometimes, which is why I'm confident playing Pearce as a left sided CB along with Kolo's pace on the other side it should be able to cope with most teams... and I believe with Vieira in the team box to box him with Lampard they should do offer enough to help along with the wingbacks at both attacking and defending... It was tough leaving Benarbia out for Deyna but Kazmierz Deyna was definitely a better player at his peak than our much loved Ali B at his best, he was a world class operator capable of being this teams KDB and he bar nobody is Poland's greatest ever player before Lewandowski, no question about it and that's nowt to be sniffed at as Poland have had some genuinely amazing players like Boniek and Lato plus many more...
Deyna is a very advanced playmaker here and has a free role switching sides linking with the wingbacks the attack and Lampard beautifully. George Weah is up front as a powerful pace filled inverted wing forward/second striker terrorising teams, anyone who saw him at his best knows he was a ballon d'Or winner for a reason his mixture of pace power and flair meant he was unplayable at his his best... An 18 -22 year old Robbie Fowler who had the world at his feet later ruined by injuries, back then he was quick agile lethal and great at linking up play that was important in my decision he finishes off the team, with an outstanding attacking threat in this team that on its own would cause any team nightmares, especially when you know Lampard is making his trademark darting runs, with Tarnat Deyna and Maicon all putting excellent deliveries into the box there's gonna be plenty of goals.

Verdict: wouldn't be an easy game for anyone despite centre back problems but I've fixed them as best I can it could work, this theoretical team would be our toughest opponents if entered in the prem at their peak years this season, especially when you consider how difficult we sometimes find it to play against 3/5 at the back at times.

Had to google Deyna, never heard of him (before my time). I thought you misspelled Reyna.

Are there 2 other City players were the only difference is the 1st letter of their surname?

Steve Daley - our former transfer record and heavily scrutinised as one of the biggest ever football flops signed for 1,450,000 from Wolves.
Willie Maley - legendary Celtic manager who managed them for over 40 years across 5 decades... He played one game for us a year before he took Celtic job. Willie Maley's brother Tom Maley won us our first trophy an FA Cup winning manager for us in 1904 and probably would've won more without a scandal.

There's probs quite a few if you look and dive deep enough but I immediately thought of Daley and Maley when you asked that.

.............Seaman
Maicon Demichelis Van Buyton Sylvinho
Hargreaves viera
Benarbia Lampard

Fowler Weah

Van Buyton is a push I know....... :)

Looked the same against Ibrahimovic too completely shackled him... But then he's getting destroyed off championship/ league one standard forwards in cup games, if typical City was a football player he'd have to be close to what they'd be.
He was better against big, physical centre forwards. He really struggled with forwards who were quick and tricky.
