Past their best when they joined us but were great players in their pomp City XI

For some reason I was quite disappointed in ex Barcelona player Ronnie Ekelund when he played briefly for us. Looking back I don't think he ever was really much cop anyway. Think I was probably getting confused with another Dane and ex Barcelona player Michael Laudrup, now he was quality!!
I'd forgotten all about him, he was shit everywhere lol

Started going 63 so didn't see much of George, did you rate the x Hibs player Plenderleith.
I never saw Plenderleith play for City. My first match was towards the end of the 1962-63 season.

Bill Leivers and Alan Oakes were established as central defenders by the time I started watching City.

I think that Plenderleith left for Cape Town before my first match. He seems to have been highly rated by Hibs supporters.

I think Robinho's value was in the statement his signing made as a sign of Sheikh Mansour's intent.

That free-kick against Chelsea on his debut was fucking brilliant!
Yeah i agree. Its just a shame that we got what was it...10 good games from him...or 15? These guys sign a 3, 4 or 5 year contract and turned up for 1 of them if we were lucky. Samaras another one by the way.

Straight at the keeper until it deflected in off the wall at chest height? Just rank bad defending.

I think a distinction should be made between those who did a job for us despite being veterans (Hutchison, Benarbia) and those who had been very good in their time but didn't give a toss while with us (McManaman, Clough, Hamann).

Others probably weren't very good to start with (Bradbury, Bony).

Interesting that no one (as far as I can see) has mentioned Santa Cruz.
