Pastore

Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore is just hours away from being sold as club president Maurizio Zamparini announces his departure.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been linked with a plethora of clubs across Europe including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Roma, Manchester City, Inter and AC Milan.

The latest reports have claimed that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are the two sides closest to landing the Argentina ace in a 45 million euro deal.

Zamparini did not disclose who he is dealing with, but said the matter will be resolved within hours.

"I will only speak after the sale. We are closing, it's just a matter of hours," Zamparini told Sky Sport Italia.

Vice-president Guglielmo Micciche echoed the patron's comments and told Calciomercato.it: "There are talks in place and it is Zamparini who is dealing with them. Paris and London are both nice cities."

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia is claiming that Salvatore Sirigu has joined PSG. The Ligue 1 side will reportedly pay the Italians 3.5 million euros for the Italy international goalkeeper.

This is sad........ Can we move our stadium to Paris? I can't envisage him going to chelsea, modric and moutinho seemed dead certs. R. Madrid and Barca have a surfeit of players in this position which leaves us, inter and AC. Right? Someone please say yes!

Lol, Dax is a nice guy and he introduced me to the wonders of Pastore!!! Everyone here knows it, we need another David Silva (basically, a guy who's a scintillating, mobile and industrious 'playmaker'). Pastore is an improvement on a very accomplished D. Silva!

Most here would disagree with you on this point - myself included.

I think Pastore is a fantastic prospect but has just had his first breakout season. In a way I will be relieved when he finally choses his club - PSG or Chelsea it looks like - so this hyperbole dies down.

I can fully understand the club not wanting to pay 40-50m for him at this stage of his career.

I may be way off here but Pastore reminds me of a young Riquelme. No blistering pace but his footballing brain, first touch, pin-point passing means he doesn't suffer from it at all. He always seems to have buckets of time on the ball and I don't just mean in Serie A. In the Copa America (where even the poor sides close down quickly and have sky high energy levels) he seemed to keep possession and find the right pass almost effortlessly, very graceful. I'd love to see him pulling the strings in our midfield.

That's all I am saying. By the way, unlike Riquelme, he does actually have speed. Albeit his game is not dependent on it. But check him out in a foot race to a ball, and you'd see him leaving defenders in the dust.

It would be a crying shame to see that kind of talent wasted in France...but better that then him going to Chelsea. Still think we are missing the boat here.
