Fulham REJECT £8m Man City offer for Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal target Patrick Roberts

Roberts, 18, as Express Sport revealed on Tuesday, is expected to turn down a new contract at Craven Cottage, and City were confident they could tie up a deal this week – and then immediately loan the highly promising youngster out.

Fulham want £10 million for Roberts and want to take him back on loan next season if they cannot hold onto the attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile, Juventus say City target Paul Pogba will have to submit a transfer request if he is to leave the Serie A champions this summer.

Manchester City are confident of completing the signing of Patrick Roberts by the end of next week and plan to send the teenager straight out on loan.

Fulham have already rejected one bid for Roberts from City, believed to be around £5 million, but the Eastlands club are ready with a new offer that will leave the Cottagers little option but to accept.

Roberts has rejected an extension to his current Fulham contract that expires next summer, which prompted interest from City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

But City have stolen a march on all their rivals and will convince 18-year-old Roberts that a switch to Manchester will be good for his career by promising a loan move to play regular first-team football.

Fears have already been raised that midfielder Roberts will struggle to break through at City for a long time, but the club do not plan to make him sit in the under-21s and on the substitutes’ bench for the coming years.

Roberts is unlikely to re-join Fulham on loan after barely figuring in the Championship last season, with City keen to find him a club and a league that suits his development.

That could include going abroad for a year, although it has not yet been decided where exactly Roberts will play next season.

Despite suffering a frustrating season with Fulham, Roberts has impressed on the international stage – scoring five goals in eight England Under-19 appearances.

Roberts was part of the England team that won the European Under-17 Championship in Malta last summer. He topped the assist chart with four and was the joint second highest scorer with three goals
