It's not a case of not costing big money, it's a case of not being as good as people who cost a lot of money
I see what he is saying though. If we invest to the tune of 40m, we are almost obliged to play them.

Truth be told, nobody knows how good Roberts would be for us because we haven't seen it yet.

If we sell for less than what we paid, it will be a real head scratcher to add to the list.

Please can we have him on loan?

We'll look after him well like we did with Mooy

Actually would be my preferred destination if it was a loan. I like Town a lot especially under Wagner.

Oh and welcome to the Premier League. Good luck with your season.

We don't need to sell Roberts at a loss. It's just Rogers and Celtic trying to get him on the cheap. He's good so if there's no tempting offers this year - loan him out to Huddersfield - if they pay his wages - let him do well and sell him next summer. He's not a diminishing asset - quite the reverse.

Genuine question about a buy back clause - would he want to come back to us? From the clips I've seen he looks very good, not forgetting he goal he scored against us in the Champions League. Celtic was good for his development but they treated him (as they are entitled to) as a loan signing and he didn't always play ahead of their inferior players. I'd be gutted if we sold him - I was hoping Pep would bring on and play a few of our youth players, I accept he's not at the level of Sanchez but I'd love to see him in our team with players like Silva and De Bruyne picking out his runs and threading through balls for him to chase. Hope he doesn't leave permanently.

He doesn't have a choice. If City decide to buy him back, he has to come back, Roberts may not like it and may ask for a move elsewhere if hes not happy. Lets say we sell him to a PL team for 12m with a buyback of 20m, he may have an amazing season, we decide to buy him back for 20m, we can use him in the squad or sell him on for probably 30m+, its great business.

Same thing happened with Morata at Juve, I am sure Morata would of preferred to stay at Juve but he performed well, so Real decided to buy him back, and now they will probably sell him to the rags for 70m.

ahh ok, cheers mate. I think Roberts has more potential than say, Iheanacho, plus he's HG and I would like to see us try and develop him but you're right - a buyback would seem like a good option too.

I don't know if he has more than Kelechi but both have the potential to be world class IMO. You are right Roberts is HG which makes him invaluable.

While it would be great to have Roberts back this season. I think it would be better for him to have a season in the PL as a starter. I feel it would be easier for him to make an impact for us after having a good season or two in the PL. He would also be more respected among his team mates and manager. Right now he is coming from the much inferior Scottish league and is only 20.
