Serious question: Do you think Pep is just ignoring his obviously immense talent or could there possibly be something else going on here? Guardiola has a track record of having a keen eye for young players, and for me has earned the benefit of the doubt given both Roberts' season on loan (which the staff has obviously analysed) and his full preseason at City this year. I guess it could be that we're just blind but I would wager far more that it is either his attitude, talent, or both that's keeping him out of the team, not whatever else.
I guess I just don't understand the fascination with Roberts specifically, he isn't one from our academy and at least from my vantage point hasn't proven himself willing to fight for a spot given his wanting to go back to Celtic and his turning down a loan to Ligue 1. And as far as the vague "we sold him on promises" line, I don't buy it. I don't believe we go out and lie to kids to get them to sign, it isn't sustainable. Foden and Brahim have gone out and won themselves minutes while Roberts has sat on the bench; for me blame has to start squarely on Roberts himself.
