How long has he left on his contract after this years loan to Celtic,we could end up being fucked over should have insisted it was buy him and for a fee of about £12-15mill then insert the sell on of 50%..

I get that it's a good move personally for Roberts - but for us it's a dud. Surely his value cannot go up as he will be one year less under contract with us. It would make more sense for us to actually tell Celtic and Roberts that he could go but only for a fee. I know Celtic don't have a ton of cash, but they must be able to stump up a decent fee paid annually for the length of his contract. I don't get this deal at all - mainly because I don't think Patrick Roberts has the mental stuff to really make it with us in the future. He looked quite miserable on the tour vids and hardly made an impression unlike Foden. I would push to get rid permanently, 2.5 years of a loan to the Scottish league is bobbins.

He really is in a comfort zone mate. I'm in Glasgow at the moment and it's fair to say he's very highly thought of. To a man all of the Celtic fans I know are desperate for him to return and feel he's going to be the main reason as to how well they do or don't do in the CL.
It's an impressive stadium he plays in and the atmosphere is rocking so it's easy to see why his head has been turned. The lad is still young so it's hard to blame him for wanting the move even if it's not the best for City, or indeed his own future.
I understand entirely,he must feel like a King up there with such adulation, and thats incredibly enticing.

Its another loan, and i'm not sure of his contract.....but it may still work out well in the long run.

This post sounds about right to me.

He was getting job satisfaction at Celtic whereas we want him to serve his apprenticeship in a higher league to see if he can fit in our PL side. Maybe he thought he had done this and deserved a place but who knows certainly he was happy at Celtic.

It's not ideal, but he'll play Chumps League football under a good manager. If he was ready, Pep would want him to stay

Not sure that yet another loan is good for City, and Celtic do appear to be taking the piss once again. Think we should be telling them to pay up or move on

Pep doesn't seem to rate him and the player looks like he wants the " comfortable option " rather than taking up the challenge of a move to a better level of football, so don't think we are missing a great deal by getting him out of the club, one way or another.

Disappointing lack of ambition from him tbh, taking comfort over challenge. Absolutely nothing he can do up there this year that will really advance his career, we know he can make shit Scottish players look like mugs. A move to a premier league team on the other hand could have really shown something. Not convinced someone who makes this sort of decision really has much of a future at a top club, you've got to be willing to back yourself to make the step up. Shame as he has bags of talent, but without that drive to be the best I just don't see him making it

Its pretty simple really take the This proposed bid of 7m+ addons and insist on a sell on clause of 50% take it or leave! This will see if really Celtic are taking the piss and sell Roberts in 18 months for 25 to 30m.

That explains why he has no future here. Attitude is key and this move tells you everything you need to know about it.

Shame.

Why are people going on about him playing CL football, it is highly likely that he will play games in the group stage and then Celtic are knocked out. Brilliant, send him on loan to play 6 games. The rest of the time he is playing against basically nothing competitive.

Thought he would build on his loan up there, instead it looks like he has rejected a challenge and wants the easy life. Doesn't have the mentality to succeed at the highest level.
