Patrick Vieira

Utter rubbish and I'm a fan of Patrick's!

why what have we done this season other than winning the 4th choice silverware and hoping west ham do us a big thank you and getting something vs united to get us a fighting chance of 4th place play off for champions league football. the football we played this season is shocking from losing to west ham at home Liverpool giving us a beating at home to Southampton away I can go on and on and on about games this season. what would a season of Patrick Vieira as manager done that pellegrini parting gift of 5th in the league is leaving us with

I ask why the youth is not been given more of a chance under pellegrini maybe he knows the superstar signings he made are going to get shown up by a kid willing to run and fight for the shirt and badge. Patrick Vieira knows all about the youth and the players we have and I think he could have done more to bring them on and ok they are not the the finished article but playing in the first team with world class players they would have looked a million dollars. much like the class of 92 over the road when mixed with world class players you rise up and look a better player then you really are. maybe its the shirt. maybe its the bond. maybe its the love. but they would have given us a big lift and something to rub the media nose in dirt about Manchester city just buying superstars and the titles

the finished article is Patrick Vieira a player that just about won every single thing in football in his playing days. who could you not listen to him when a team talk is needed to pump up the players a man that is so well respected in football and is working in our own youth campus with the youth players WHY HAVE WE JUST LET HIM LEAVE when the club is crying out for a leader

mark my words Patrick Vieira will become a great manager and maybe not at our club but at arsenal or France or 1 of the other big clubs

Vieira had tremendous athleticism and physicality but often had a poor disciplinary record. There is no guarantee any former great player is going to be a good manager. Vieira needs a chance to get experience and prove himself. However to have appointed him as first team manager, at this point in his development, would have been premature, in my opinion.

his team is currently sliding down the table

its down to the club you are manager at and Manchester city with millions of pounds spent on world class players you have more than a chance to build and bring in youth. but in Vieira he was not going in blind spent 5 years at the club and coach of the youth team so been at the club would have given him more chance to gel a first team squad. you have to start somewhere and even if we did give him the job for 12months I don't think the players would have turn off and down tools and then pep could have come in and give Vieira the number 2 job to pep and then in 5 years Vieira could have took over full time

but letting pellegrini take over the last season is a mistake and in the long term hit us hard if we don't get champions league football this season. its a step backwards and you don't need that when a new manager is coming in with new plans that will need looking at again. but pep will not be happy and missing out of champions league was not in his plans and if united take it off us its a big blow for club and players and uefa will be laughing there balls off at city and the booing fans

Barcelona have shown that managers don't necessarily need a huge amount of experience if they're educated in what the club is all about and they share the passion and desire to work with that club. Pep came through as a player, was clearly studious and had a keen philosophy of his own, worked incredibly well with the youth team and then transferred that to the first team. Others have also managed to do the same. Vieira has worked with our club for a while and is aware of the wider and ambitious intentions. He wasn't incredibly successful but EDS level is the hardest to judge because it's often used to bring senior pros back from injury.

I truly believe the club have sent him to NYCFC for more experience with senior players and we'll see him return to work with Pep in a couple of years and he'll be the natural replacement unless someone else within the academy management really stands out. We'll follow the Barca model in terms of managerial recruitment.

I think you are right and I think it is a lovely way of doing things. Hope it works.
