Patrick Vieira

Surprised he got the NYC job after not showing much promise with the EDS (despite the MCFC.co.uk propaganda machine suggesting overwise).

His NY look disorganised and chaotic. Too early to judge his qualities as a manager going forward - given time he may well turn out to be top class. But as of now, he's a million miles off being qualified to take any job in England's top flight, let alone City.
If Zidane can take Madrid to a CL final...

It doesn't take long to create that culture though. Real and Barca, and indeed the rags had years of domination under their belts and a big history of success that made players want to join them. The rags managed to win a hell of a lot because of that culture and mentality (unfortunately). It led to players like Wes Brown, John O'Shea and the like being very good when they were at the club but subsequently dross when they put another teams shirt on under a different manager. Liverpool and indeed the rags are evidence as to how quickly that culture can evaporate - Liverpool live off the history of success but in domestic football no one takes them too seriously. In Europe it still plays a huge part. You know when you play Liverpool at Anfield you're in for one hell of a game, and the players step up.

As you say, we don't have that. But under Mancini we were getting there. The Etihad was a place few teams came and won at - similarly to Stamford Bridge under Mourinho (ignoring this season). We "fight til the end" and have won numerous points late on in games. I don't think it will take long at all for Pep to create a strong culture.

What is key about this culture you talk of is strong management though. The club, the fans they are bigger than the player. Pellegrini has allowed players to perform like they're amateurs in a park without fear of losing their place. Pep will haul them off (as Mancini did) and if they don't perform better in the next game they'll be off again. No one will be safe which means when you play you play well for fear of losing your place in the starting lineup.

I don't want to go back into the Mancini managerial issues and I'm not saying he was better than Pellegrini, who has done the job he was brought into do initially (and only to a certain extent). There will be a difference under Pep and it might seem hypocritical to the boards stance with Mancini. If Pep fucks someone off to a golf course in Argentina and doesn't want him back, he won't be back. The board now have their man, the one they've always wanted and we'll see him backed 100%. Whilst he will not work miracles straight away, blues should be very excited to see what the club now do with the manager they will give the world and more to.

If that's true then thank fuck the board were better at managing players than Mancini is all I can say.

Otherwise we would not have won that title.

I always gave Mancini credit for choosing the best interests of the team over his own ego, but if he was forced to do it then we won in spite of him rather than because of him.

why what have we done this season other than winning the 4th choice silverware and hoping west ham do us a big thank you and getting something vs united to get us a fighting chance of 4th place play off for champions league football. the football we played this season is shocking from losing to west ham at home Liverpool giving us a beating at home to Southampton away I can go on and on and on about games this season. what would a season of Patrick Vieira as manager done that pellegrini parting gift of 5th in the league is leaving us with

No place for that game there, we battered West Ham on that day, how they managed to not concede 5 let alone win is mystery. Bilic came after the match (and after playing and winning all other big clubs before) saying they played against the best team in the league. That was the last good football we played in the league though.

agree completely here mate.

well written post by the way.

would have been a better choice this season for manager than pellegrini who should have been sacked last season

what had we to lose other than the league cup and with the EDS players there would have been more youth players coming into the first team than just 1. ok not been a manager before you say well pep at barca worked in the youth side of things and was given the chance so I don't see that stopping him at city. Patrick Vieira the player just about won everything in football so knows the game inside out so I don't see that stopping him getting the job

the only thing I think was stopping him is doing a damn good job at it and city would have to keep him and change there minds about pep taking over next season the board know it would have made sense to promote Patrick Vieira up the ladder and work with bringing the youth players into the first team that he built in the last couple of years but they knew the deal that city had with pep coming. for me now Patrick Vieira will be the arsenal manager in 2 seasons and will be a very good manager and win the silverware and titles and city will be again left with egg on our faces
Ridiculous notion. No experience at this level

I ask why the youth is not been given more of a chance under pellegrini maybe he knows the superstar signings he made are going to get shown up by a kid willing to run and fight for the shirt and badge. Patrick Vieira knows all about the youth and the players we have and I think he could have done more to bring them on and ok they are not the the finished article but playing in the first team with world class players they would have looked a million dollars. much like the class of 92 over the road when mixed with world class players you rise up and look a better player then you really are. maybe its the shirt. maybe its the bond. maybe its the love. but they would have given us a big lift and something to rub the media nose in dirt about Manchester city just buying superstars and the titles

the finished article is Patrick Vieira a player that just about won every single thing in football in his playing days. who could you not listen to him when a team talk is needed to pump up the players a man that is so well respected in football and is working in our own youth campus with the youth players WHY HAVE WE JUST LET HIM LEAVE when the club is crying out for a leader

mark my words Patrick Vieira will become a great manager and maybe not at our club but at arsenal or France or 1 of the other big clubs
He may well become a top manager, but he isn't one today
you're kidding me right

if pellegrini can qualified to take over the Manchester city job from mancini with the record of having won fuck all in Europe and take's the real Madrid and getting 90 points with a team with Ronnie Ronaldo in the side and still won fuck all says a lot about his management style. Patrick Vieira would have been a better choice back then never mind this season

I'm no fan of Pellegrini but that doesn't make any sense at all. He took them to a record points total (96). He can't control the fact that another team (probably the best one ever assembled) managed to go 3 points better.

3 points or 1 point and Q.F or S.F of the champions league makes him a loser. my question was what did the board see in pellegrini CV not won silverware in Europe and city sacked mancini and that was after Manchester city best ever run in silverware in 40 odd years and getting to another FA cup final and 2nd place in the league it does not make sense to give it to pellegrini on the grounds of that CV he had

that's why I said Patrick Vieira could have done a better job than pellegrini and was with the club for 4 years so knew everything about whats happing and youth players are coming through I really think it would have ended up better than what is this season is ending like. should we with the players we have be fighting for 4th place NO was the manager wrong in playing weak teams in the premier league and fa cup YES. was the record of 0 wins in 12 vs the top 6 ok NOPE. was the home record this season ok NOPE. could he have played iheanacho more YES

all the questions need a answer and pellegrini can not look you in the eye with the right answer. if there is grounds for an inquest then the Manchester city board got it wrong but knew pep was coming in the summer so I feel they let the fans down and just took us for granted in a way that we could not question them for what they have given us in the past. maybe that is the truth and we should be grateful but when you take us for granted that's when you lose the fans
