Oh, and I believe someone has said that we have shown we can have dignity in winning. I would agree that the athletes have been dignified. The bloke who won the Kayak 200m was brilliant, and still my favourite was the girl (Adams I believe) who won the 1st female boxing Gold - stunning. However, the BBC can certainly not be said to have been dignified. Totally over the top bullshit from them, the commentators and 'experts' could learn a helluva lot from our athletes who are actually competing. Proud of the athletes, utterly embarrassed by the BBC (sorry, I have to dumb that down slightly by saying Jonathan Edwards, Michael Johnson and the velodrome team were excellent).

And get rid of medals and just give each competitor a hug for finishing.

The whole point to the Olympics is winning medals. I fucking hate that bollocks saying 'It's not about the winning, it's about the taking part' - if that's true, then stop giving medals out.

Someone mentioned above that the table only reflects the amount of money that a country invests in their sports/athletics. Yep, off course that's true, and I don't think anyone with a modicum of intelligence would think any differently. It's no accident that we're now 3rd in the table because the lottery has pumped shite loads of money into our sports.

However, I do have to say that I find it a bit crass the way the BBC are putting the table up every 5 fucking minutes, but that goes along with my previous post about the BBC.

the olympics is all a load of bollocks, it makes me wanna puke, the athletes just want to win gold to make a personal fortune, its a long long way from being the ideal it was meant to be, and 9.2 billion ?? I thought Britain was skint, yet this money can be squandered, meanwhile the homeless are still homeless, the schools still close, the NHS still lays of nurses and closes wards, but hey, lots of Gold medals and flag waving and Seb Coe has a great job

Lets just hope our politicians dont hijack the lottery funding in the future , well done All nations that competed . Good luck to the Paralympic team`s .

But please lose the crass medals table , we dont need a table to tell us the countries that invested the most money in their athletes . Totally detracts from the spirit of the games.
