Paul Bosvelt

A good strong tackling midfielder in the NDJ mould. Was over the hill when we got him. Was idolised by his former club - was it Feyenord? They had a giant banner of him made up.

Good player, past his best when he came here and not helped by playing in a struggling (at times anyway) team.

Looked like he smoked 60 a day and drank 10 pints each day. Probably because he did.

Met him a few years after he stopped playing for us outside Waxy O Connors in the Printworks. Really nice guy and a decent centre mid as well. I think he injured Dennis Irwin in a Champs League game playing for PSV v United...

I remember seeing the news and Feyenoord fans rioting because he'd left to join us

Ahh I thought he done ok. Had a disagreement with a blue earlier on when we were discussing our possible midfield for next season. He mentioned that we used to have shit like Reyna and Bosvelt and how we've came so far. My immediate thought was that Bosvelt never fared too shabby.

Reyna wasn't shit for us either as I remember?

That tackle on Irwin was horrific. Just a shame it wasn't Ratboy.

No but he was fit only slightly more often than Crocky.

I remember he was very average in his first season but superb in his second.

Yeah , i'd agree with that .....

he had become an important player for us just prior to his departure , and i was sorry to see him go .

His departure , back to Holland , all seemed a bit sudden , and surprising.
