I've got lots of mates who think the same who went to games regularly in those days. It's not the traditional City fans view, but I don't really care what the general public's view is. I saw the games myself and more than capable to make my own judgements.

Hard to get beyond those first five words without falling about laughing.
Oh stop it, my sides are aching

Could be the bile. Try a bottle of paracetamol.

Just stop biting to him, mate.

The WUM will disappear eventually.
I know little Dicky is your hero, and I'm sorry to shatter your illusions, but he was absolute wank. I'm not on a wind up, I just know he was a terrible football player.

Sorry, little man, but "Dickov" isn't remotely my hero and unless he lifts the FA Cup or gets us promoted, he never will be.

Again, your final statement shows you referring to pure footballing ability when basing your opinion on Dickov's legendary status amongst City fans.

Nobody is comparing him to Mara fucking Dona.

Well again, it depends on your criteria for what makes a legend. 5 goals a season in the worst team that has ever played for the club in it's entire history does not constitute a legend in my eyes.

Yes he worked hard and he scored one important goal, but there are dozens of players who have achieved far more in their City career who aren't remembered as legends.

There are lots of City fans who only judge players on work rate, and don't take how good a footballer they are in to account. Good examples Dickov is a remembered as a "legend" whereas Anelka and Robinho, despite having a huge amount of talent are remembered as disgrace's to the club.

I appreciate you need class and work rate to be a top player. But why do people only remember Anelka and Robinho's lack of work rate, and not recognise Dickov's lack of class?

Which scenario is more likely to have stopped City getting to the point of where the club is at today?

Dickov not scoring that goal or Anelka/Robinho not joining City?

Sometimes it's not about who the most technically gifted player is or even who the most hardworking is. However, when you're looking for someone who gave absolutely everything on the pitch, for a club he loved, and was the focal point in the single biggest moment in City's recent history (at that time), then it should come as no surprise as to why one is rightly labelled a legend.

No. He is not rightly labelled a legend. He is labelled a legend by people with no idea about football or the history of the club. Here is the City Hall of Fame. The club quite rightly don't consider him worthy of legendary status, and neither do I. Stop being disrespectful to the true legends of the club by comparing them with that little wasp.

I just wonder weather such praise would have been lavished on Jeff Whitley or Gareth Taylor had they scored the equaliser? I doubt it.
Dickov was as bad as either of those two and cost and earned considerably more too.

What about Richard Edghill, after all it was indeed him that actually scored the winning penalty. Incidentally Dickov missed his penalty.

Weaver saved what 3 from 4? Should he always have legend status too?

Dickov was a very ordinary player, a £1 million plus striker in the 90's playing 3 tier football. He scored 12 goals...Twelve goals in Division 3.....

Legend, be careful.....

By people who have no clue about football? Or by people who have a differing opinion to that of your own. Your opinion is obviously different to everyone else's, fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you obviously seem to have your head so far up your own arse that you can't even accept that other people consider him a legend for reasons other than ability. He was my childhood hero, as said before, I knew nothing but losing and being shit when I became a city fan growing up, so I didn't really have the basis to compare him to players from a completely different era, but what I did know was he gave everything for the team I love and contributed everything he had to offer, he scored the goal that no doubt saved us as a major team in this country, and for those reasons I class him as a legend. Does that mean I know any less about football than you? No, it does not. Does that mean anybody else that considers him a legend knows less about football than you? No. And funnily enough, my bedroom wall at uni is covered in pictures of Colin bell, Neil young, joe mercer, Malcolm Allison, old pictures of cup finals and even some old ticket stubs and program's from various trips to wembley from a very long time ago. I may not have been old enough to name all these memories from derby matches in the 80's, and I may not be able to remember all the different pubs outside all the old football grounds that are no longer there, but that doesn't mean I don't know about our history. I'm perfectly aware and am incredibly proud of the history of this club, as are all the other blues that have voiced an opinion about Dickov on this thread. Stop trying to belittle everybody's opinion just to feed your own ego. "The likes of you" need to get off your high horse.

Anyway, I'm off to read up on some more history on our club so I'm ready for your next post. Have a good evening.
