Paul Hince

R.I.P Paul. Saw good, bad and indifferent, and had our backs in the press. Pulled on the famous Sky Blue, so will get V.I.P access at the pearly gates.

Anecdote taken from Malcolm Allison's 'Colours of my life', ghost written by James Lawton.

Hince was playing superbly against Nottingham Forest, played in early September 1967, and the Forest full back, Winfield, was starting to commit some terrible tackles, and Allison shouted to the referee to send him off.

Hince replied back to his coach 'Don't get him sent off, Mal, I might not be able to beat the next man they put on me'.
City won 2-0, and this is the game Allison stated where he thought something could be on with the team for the league.

His columns in the Evening News always made for entertaing reading. RIP.

Saw Paul make his First Division debut against The Baggies, when he scored our two goals in a 2-2 draw. He then missed a sitter for what could've been a debut hat-trick!

One of the group with Harry Dowd, Bobby Kennedy and Stan Horne who deservedly were awarded belated Championship medals for their appearances during the 1967-68 title winning season.

A decent, honest footy journalist too.. there'd be no 'clickbait' tolerated by Hincey, I'm sure!

A true Blue, may he rest in peace.
