Paul Lake and Edin on Sky 1 FFC tonight

He must have mistaken Gary Fleming as Paul Lake then as the former played right back in that game, and it was 3pm on a Saturday. The type if injury if he had can often occur again in the opposite knee if a successful comeback is made, and player who do come back such as Richard Edghill, normally lose quite a bit. If lake hadn't been injured that night doing very little, there is a high chance it would have happened sooner or later.

The captain of England stuff is in the realms of Kinky better than Marradona, and both Kinky and Lakey played mainly in division 2 for us, so it is hard to bench mark.
Your right re the captain of England stuff as we will never know.
What I do know is seeing him in the 5-1 and his battles with gazza vs spurs, given his age he would have had a long England career I'm sure, and it's highly likely he would have captained the side.
I was at the 4-0 mentioned and thought lakey played right back as well? Don't remember anyone playing well tho...think we played in yellow that day also...dreadful kit!

Fleming started the match at right back but Lake moved there when Fleming went off at 2-0.

Ah right makes sense, I remember we were packed behind the net, cud hardly see a thing, which given the score wasn't a bad thing.

Not suggesting you were trying to be a clever cnut there (and I suspect I've mixed the 4-0 up with the 2-2 the following season in terms of the midweek aspect), but the attached shows that my memory hasn't failed completely. Fleming might have started as right back, but he clearly wasn't there in the 2nd half, cos Paul Lake was.

Fleming was still number 2 for the MIchael Thomas goal in the second half, lake may have replaced him at the end on the game with number 11 on his back. So Fleming still clearly was playing right back during the 2nd half even in your clip until replaced by Clive Allen towards the end.

I know Highbury was jokingly referred to as the library, but I think the commentary was recorded in a local library! Does that commentator do relaxing, soothing stress relief CD's now? MartinTyler,Clive Tyldesley take note that when Shrek gets the ball 10yards in his own half and lays off a square ball there is absolutely no need to scream "Roooooonnneyyyy".
