Paul Mariner RIP

Dont recall him being particularly dirty. And those are the proper hard men. Barely a foul but leave u black n blue

I wasn't suggesting he was dirty just that he was a big bloke and at corners and the like I'd imagine if you were pushed or leaned on by him you'd know about it.

Of course my favourite Ipswich match I saw Paul Mariner play in was the 81 semi final at Villa Park against City.
Saw Mariner score against Holland in the first (and one of the few) England games I went to.
A good, solid ,old fashioned centre foward who you could admire as a fan of an opposing team.(Played for Arsenal too I just read, completely forgot that one!)
A big Metal fan apparently too, had proper Rock dude 80s hair !

His signed England shirt was, for many years, on display in the bar at Victory Park, home of Chorley FC. RIP Paul.
My old domino partner, who sadly passed away about three years ago now, was the Captain of Chorley for a few years, John Bingham and a few of the old lads from Chorley came to his funeral.
