Paul O'Grady RIP

His official death certificate has now confirmed that Paul died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome, or SADS, is when someone dies suddenly following a cardiac arrest and no obvious cause can be found

In 2020, at the age of 65, Paul opened up about having three heart attacks, kidney failure and a coronavirus scare behind him

He always showed he cared, whether for people or animals, but also funny, sharp and acerbic with his wit, and never took a backward step.

Too many 'celebrities' chase the spotlight. He was always front and centre, and understood the absurdity of being famous

For me his standout was how he approached fame - there are a few others that do but most conform to the usual behaviour - social media - selling a story - cultivating clicks.

Paul was one of those rare celebs who, when given the chance to glam up to conform to a stereotype and tell the story of how "tough it is living in the public eye" instead took fame and said yeah look over here - animal cruelty - elderly people alone - homelessness - neglect - the Sally Army - he always did the right thing he used his "fame" - whatever ethereal concept that is and said to the camera come over here and sit with me in this doorway with this lad in a sleeping bag and shivering dog and lets talk about fame eh luv?

RIP Paul O’Grady and Lily Savage - you were both one of a kind and you’ll both be sadly missed.

Just heard a lovely tribute on the radio from what sounded like an old girl either at the Birkenhead celebration or watching the funeral cortege in Kent. She simply said

I don't know if he was a religious man or not but I am sure as he went up to those gates Saint Peter would have pushed them open and said in you go Paul he is waiting for you.

I am not religious either but that is just a lovely respectful image in memory of a lovely man
