Paul Pogba

He must really love United. There's no other reason why he would re- join them. We will never have the same magical aura that United have. Players willing too play for peanuts just to grace the hallowed turf of the theatre of dreams. To wear the red shirt that previous legends have worn. To win trophies every season.
We can't compete with that. We may as well take our ball and go home.

First time they get beat and Mourinho needs a scapegoat...........

Just watch.
That'll be Rooney. Be surprised if he's still there come the start of 2017/18.

I think Pogba may well turn out to be one of those signings where the fee doesn't really matter. They've pulled a blinder to beat Madrid to his signature.

the money isn't important....they have huge debts but it isn't stopping them and won't stop them in the future as some on here are hoping.

The simple fact is that they are signing a player who we wanted and decided not to go for and who will significantly improve them (and us). This makes them more of a threat and stronger (make it sweeter when we still beat them).........

People trying to hide disappointment/put the mockers on this transfer by going on about the price.

Simple fact is that they are getting a hell of a player who could well get better and will stay there for a while at least. (where else would he go from there - only madrid probably) which will make them stronger

We have got Gudongan for a 5th of the price - he will make us a lot more competitive and if we can rejuvenate Yaya then we have a hell of a midfield - however this is the biggest question and one that could define our season (unless we do go for another central midfielder)

You know, i was concerned about them when they signed Mata, when they signed Falcao, when they signed Di Maria, even when they signed Kagawa.

I guess i will be concerned about them getting Pogba, hopefully he will have the same impact as the others have.

Different level to the others mentioned, let's not pretend otherwise

They have a manager now who will win things with them. Pogba could be the catalyst Yaya was for us,it's a brilliant signing for them regardless of the figures. I honestly couldn't call it between ours and their squad. They have as much of a chance to win the league as us imo.

I could understand this transfer more if he were the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle, but he isn't and they still need to strengthen elsewhere to become serious again. Yes he will improve them, but I don't see it being a huge improvement unless they continue to splash the cash again before end Aug.

Rooney has got mourinho scapegoat written all over it! Mourinho already said he doesn't see Rooney as a midfielder and he clearly isn't a striker anymore as he doesn't get enough goals.

I think Rooney will end up at Everton either in January or at the end of the season. United will probably get some satisfaction kicking him to the curb after he held them to ransom that time with his transfer request. Hopefully will be a very public falling out and entertaining.

Pogba will undoubtedly be a great signing for them, but not convinced it's the best move he could have made. Juventus have an incredibly strong squad and may well challenge for the champions leage... united aren't even in it!

I would have thought Real would have gone all out to get Pogba and I am surprised he isn't going there. I still think our squad (with a few additions meant to be close) is far stronger than united's, the only real concern is that they will play less games as I don't for one second think they will prioritise the europa league.

Next season is going to be very interesting, bring it on.

This could potentially be the transfer that drags United out of their post-Ferguson malaise if they get it over the line. The money they're paying is astronomical, the world record fee was always going to be broken and it should have been us, but the fact that it will take up less of their overall turnover (19.6%) compared to their moves for Juan Sebastian Veron (21.8%) and Rio Ferdinand (19.9%) means they can earn the money back through shirt sales and TV revenue fairly quickly.

Plus, he's likely to be worth it on the pitch. Not only is he a hugely marketable footballer, he's a gamebreaker and the sort of player who will eventually be able to run games in the manner of Zidane circa 2000-2006 or Yaya at his imperious, controlling best (2011-2014). He won't be able to impose himself on the Premier League in the manner he wants to immediately, but if he stays around long enough we'll look back with hindsight and consider him to be one of the greatest to play in this league - think Drogba, unspectacular on a season-by-season statistical basis but undeniably one of the greatest strikers in English football history.

On the other hand, this is a huge gamble. Fee aside, United are signing Pogba instead of the likes of Matuidi or Krychowiak (who went to PSG) - players with more of a defensive preference who could slot in to Mourinho's rigid 4-2-3-1 formation - so this has to work. United fans will hope that Pogba will take over Rooney's role in the side long term and have just as much of an impact while he's at the club. Also, as others have mentioned, his wages are now up there with Rooney and Zlatan, which means players like Smalling, Mata, even De Gea, will be asking for a payrise sooner rather than later.

It won't be the difference between them finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd this season, as much as Sky Sports will constantly tell us, but if he slots into the team they could absolutely threaten the little two-horse race we were planning on having with Chelsea. It'll be exciting either way, and one thing is for certain: the Premier League is about to become a force that lives up to its billing once again.

A fantastic signing by the shithouses.

Absolutely ridiculous (and, in some ways, embarrassing) transfer, but they're getting some player.

Its funny how we all see things differently. I would struggle to put more than two or three of their players into our squad.

It would take them decades to pay the fee back through increased shirt sales and increased TV money.

He may well turn out a good or even great signing for them. But they will pay for it.

I think for the outlet that he'd better be a great signing.

I'm sure the shirt sales line will get tried on out, but I don't really see him as having that kind of name yet - the one fans want on the back of shirts. Mind you, they'll fucking lie anyway, we'll get stories about not enough P.O.G.B and A letters being available for the demand!
