Paul Pogba

In 2/3 years could he not naturally replace Fernandinho?

Where does Sterling fit in to a Jesus, Aguero, Sane front three?
Why don't you head over to the Sterling thread then?

You also don't spend £120m for a player to make the first 11 in two or three years.

Look I know you love to be annoyed at everything that happens at City and talk up everything elsewhere so I'm glad you're happy. But I won't agree with you on this.

When was the last time a central midfielder won the Ballon D'or?

No chance he'll win it. Especially not in a team that fails to win the league.

So you'd have him in CDM? And he'd win the ballon d'or? Excellent.

I'd have him wherever he is best because he is superb technically.

In regards to Ballon d'Or, Messi and Ronaldo exist. It doesn't even matter if he wins it or not, the fact that he's a future contender that is scary. Ignoring that is foolish.

I see you're trying your best to undermine the signing which I understand. I totally want him to fail. I just accept things the way they are and am able to remove my blue-tinted specs when needed.

Fantastic signing that will not only drag them out of their post-Ferguson malaise - a fantastic signing we could have made last summer - but will put their first XI above ours in terms of quality and make them favourites for the title.

You are joking?

One player does not make a football team.

If he wasn't "Paul Pogba", would they be choosing to sign him to play in the position they will be playing him? I very much doubt it. Someone like Blaise Matuidi would be the much more obvious fit for a Mourinho midfield two, but he's not a big enough name. Pogba doesn't really fit there, he doesn't get about the pitch that much defensively and he doesn't dictate the tempo from deep, so I don't see him being up to much there (as he showed in the Euro's).

If they bring in someone else and move him forwards (meaning getting rid of Rooney) and give him a free role with two defensive players behind him then he could do very well, but at the moment it looks like a very shiny looking square peg in a round hole

How could I be annoyed at City not signing a player we weren't in for and how does acknowledging that Pogba is a good player equate to "talking up everything elsewhere"?

He's signed for them so naturally most want to find fault somewhere, doesn't make those faults true.

What's the cut off for a 2/3 year player then, £44m?

My point is that they have signed a good player, that basic, if you won't "agree" with that then it's rather bitter or you haven't really read what I've posted and just thought "flapper", you're part in bold would lead me to believe you did generalise incorrectly once again, no biggie.

I think he's a great player, but I hope he's played in a midfield 2 in a 4-2-3-1 as he wont be a future anything played there.

Right player, wrong manager for him, unless he's played in an advanced 3. Which I can't see given their squad.

The way i'd sum this up.

He's a fantastic player, and a fantastic signing for them. However, they need about five more quality players in addition to him before i'm remotely worried by their threat.

Thanks, you've explained far more succinctly what I've been trying to express.

There are a hundred players for under half his fee that would be a better fit in a 2.

However if he plays further advanced and they buy someone like Matic as well, then I'd be a little more worried.

Well I can only hope they don't use him properly. But an attack of Mkht - Pogba - Martial with Ibra up top is fearsome.

The fact that they could have better spent the 120M doesn't make the news that Pogba is joining them any better. He's a top player, one of the most sought after that puts them back on the map. They're signing someone who considerably improves their midfield and is a future Balon D'or winner - that ISN'T good news!

He'd be our best CM. Gundo is class as is 'Dinho but he's better than both. People forget how bad our CM's are right now; we literally only have 2 good options. You wouldn't dare pose that question if we were signing him.

Haha CARLTON POGBA Is shit mate and he will prove it this season! He is doing a Di Maria

Big difference with Sterling under his manager is that Pep will rotate most players for most games so there will be a first 16/18. Sterling will still get 40+ matches. Mourinho doesn't rotate, look at his last winning Chelsea team, fuck knows what they were on but most played week in week out and only lost their place through injury.

I'm not sure why you're trying to keep dragging Sterling into the debate either. If you're saying that with hindsight, we could have bett spent £44m last summer, then I'd be inclined to agree with you, at this stage. Let's hope united fans feel the same in 12 months time.

You've really taken this to heart haven't you. I asked if any flappers could tell me who he'd replace in our strongest 11?

I mentioned no names but three times you've responded with the same term as if the cap fits.

You mention Dinho and Gundogan, but he's not got the legs or tackling ability/discipline for Dinhos job, so that's out. That leaves Gundogan, now ignoring the 5 Gundogans you could buy for a Pogba, I'd still wager that Gundogans stats are more than equal with Pogbas for the coming season. And that, as I say, ignores the fact we also bought Sane, Jesus, Nolito, Gundogan and had spare change from that amount.

That would be yes, the only plus side is the egos in the dressing room with Rooney doing his best to undermine everything and every argument going straight to the press thanks to Paul Stretford. Chelsea's 2015/16 mkII with any luck.
