I see we're in the denial phase.

Excuses aside for us not managing to get yet another transfer target - this will be an incredible signing for the unfortunately.

1. He wasn't a transfer target, we left the race a long time ago.

2. It will be an incredible signing. The rags will pay a world record destroying fee for a young player they had in their own academy who is worth roughly half of what they will cough up. Incredible.

What are PL FFP rules again for increase of the wages budget? Weren't there some restrictions put in place?

I wonder where the transfer market goes if the rags do this.

And they have been the team who does this the most. City/Chelsea get the blame but we just have to pay their stupid fucking prices & wages. They constantly fuck up the market.

Fucking hell, I just wish someone would buy him so that this thread can get closed. He's not coming to us so why are we still bothered?

1. He was very much the major target.
2. A lot of money, but alas they can absorb it.

Did the rags buy him first time around ?

Yeah, on 31st July 2009.

Glad you said that and not me.

That's never stopped you before.

Always, and they get a completely free pass for it. I don't think it will have any major impacts on the transfer market, as none of the players actually worth £100m+ (basically Messi, Neymar, Suarez and MAYBE Bale) are available anyway, as far as we know. Still it's just a typical rag move "spend now, deal with consequences later" and that's not even factoring in how they are blowing up their wage structure too.

1. Not this summer. It's widely reported Pep didn't want him and we cooled interest months ago.

2. Doesn't make it any less foolish.
