Paul Pogba

Big difference with Sterling under his manager is that Pep will rotate most players for most games so there will be a first 16/18. Sterling will still get 40+ matches. Mourinho doesn't rotate, look at his last winning Chelsea team, fuck knows what they were on but most played week in week out and only lost their place through injury.

I'm not sure why you're trying to keep dragging Sterling into the debate either. If you're saying that with hindsight, we could have bett spent £44m last summer, then I'd be inclined to agree with you, at this stage. Let's hope united fans feel the same in 12 months time.
I love Sterling and believe he'll flourish under Pep.

You asked who Pogba would displace in our strongest XI and in 2/3 years time according to you Sterling is not in that starting XI despite a sizeable outlay. Would you have said when we signed Sterling that you don't spend £44m on a 20 year old player for just 3 seasons worth?

If Pep will rotate to the tune of 40 games for a player you feel won't be in the strongest XI, on paper, in 2/3 years then why argue Pogba wouldn't get into our strongest XI in the first place?

Didn't know it was the attention seeker posting. Makes sense now.

Back to Pogba.

It's laughable because as others said, he is an awful fit for what they have. They could have fixed their entire team for that outlay, but went for the icing without ordering a cake.

If they don't get top four and are stuck with shrek and the pigfucker on those crazy wages on top of ibra and Pogba, they are in a whole world of trouble.

You've really taken this to heart haven't you. I asked if any flappers could tell me who he'd replace in our strongest 11?

I mentioned no names but three times you've responded with the same term as if the cap fits.

You mention Dinho and Gundogan, but he's not got the legs or tackling ability/discipline for Dinhos job, so that's out. That leaves Gundogan, now ignoring the 5 Gundogans you could buy for a Pogba, I'd still wager that Gundogans stats are more than equal with Pogbas for the coming season. And that, as I say, ignores the fact we also bought Sane, Jesus, Nolito, Gundogan and had spare change from that amount.
I didn't mention Gundogan.

As for the "flappers" I merely highlighted that there was arguably just the one, but the generalisations continued so I joined in; public forum and all that.

You're comparing apples with oranges.

I think Sterling wouldn't be in the strongest 11 next year or the year after as I think Jesus and Sane have higher potential ceilings along it'd be close between all 3.

I still don't understand what this has to do with Pogba though. You mention him replacing Dinho is 2/3 years time. That would be an awful replacement. I'd rather have Matic or Matuidi or Kante for that job.

Pogba would be replacing Silva or KDB to get the best out of him.

You may but Mourinho won't and that's the reality of it
There's no reason why Mourinho can't do what he did the season Chelsea won the title, i.e. go 4-1-4-1 with Matic as a defensive yardstick.

Chelsea lined up as:

Matic
Willian - Oscar - Fabregas - Hazard
Costa

United could easily go:

Schneiderlin
Mkhitaryan - Pogba - Rooney - Martial
Zlatan

It's a bit top-heavy but it's possible.

Fernandinho could play anywhere according to Pep, so your cemented view of I'm assuming a DM for him may not be true, he could play further forward under Pep and thus play in a similar position to Pogba.

Again, you indicated Pogba wouldn't get into our strongest XI but say players like Sterling will still get 40 games with rotation despite also potentially not getting into the strongest XI, why couldn't Pogba have gotten the same?

Sterling is merely an interchangable example.

So who would Pogba replace in our starting 11?

This was originally asked of the flapper(s) but feel free to answer.

Before the summer I would have said he was brought in a year early to replace/rotate with Silva with KDB on the right of a three. But since we bought Sane I can't see that being the case as KDB/Silva will rotate the 10 position.

I wouldn't have Pogba over KDB or Silva and he isn't better in a two than what we have.

There's an argument to be had that he could play left midfield (not wing but an advanced attacking midfielder, coming inside like we tried with Delph too many time last season) and so take Sterlings position. But again I'm not sure he'd be better there than Nolito or Sterling in terms of contributing goals and assists.
