Paul Pogba

I take it we've persuaded ourselves that we don't want him now and that he'll actually be a burden to them.

Would have been a brilliant signing for us - shame.
Not really. Most realise that he's a good player but that's tempered by the transfer fee. Given the players we already have at our club, would you rather have Pogba or Sane, Gundogan and Stones for roughly the same price?

So is this confirmed or something? Seems to have been a huge leap in activity, since I last had a nosey.
Manchester United have had an £85m bid for Paul Pogba rejected by Juventus, according to Sky in Italy.

United had the offer turned down on Tuesday but have reportedly been told by the Italian champions that a world-record transfer fee in excess of £100m for the France midfielder would be accepted.

Earlier this week Sky in Italy reported Pogba had already agreed personal terms of a salary of £10.92m (13m euros) a year

It's a no brainer, we'd choose the players you mentioned but we're not like the rags

We have an academy that is second to none, we are solvent, we are growing in terms of economic scale and reputation and we have the best manager in the game (allegedly) at the helm... We are therefore not resorting to last ditch desperate measures to appease a fan-base or our investors who crave, no sorry, demand success

Thank fuck I was born a blue 51 years ago

It's due though. Utd delegation off to meet Juve apparently. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't get done. Utd need him. Without him they have little chance of top 4 so they will pay whatever it takes.
The Rags don't need him, that's the point and has been my opinion all along.

I still think they'll end up with Matuidi, that's the Mourinho type player they're lacking and need, not Pogba.

A question for you Marvin, "if" they sign him where do you think Mourinho would play him in his nailed on 4-2-3-1 system?

If it's purely a one or the other choice - clearly 3 very good for the price of one excellent shades it (although I have reservations about Stones).

The problem is that in real terms Pogba's improvement as a footballer over the last two years has been absolutely minimal. If you look back at his performances and his stats over that period they've been relatively consistent. They're not bad numbers, but equally they aren't really 'world class' numbers. He's definitely got individual skills, but being able to do a bunch of step overs really quickly doesn't make you world class (just ask Nani).

What i expected to see, particularly in the season just gone, was Pogba being played further forward for Juve and really stepping up a level. Instead he's remained at the same level in terms of his output. He will improve the rags because their midfield options are pretty shit. But he won't be the difference between them winning the league and not winning it.

I agree he won't be the difference between them winning the league or not winning it yet. Pogbas output staying the same over this season seems like quite a good sign, i'll admit I barely watch Juventus but he lost two great midfielders in Vidal and Pirlo and i'd expect that to have an affect on his freedom and ability.

Do you mean along with Pogba or instead? Mino is Matuidi's agent as well...

As one of the 3? So they would have the Armenian, Pogba, Martial, Mata, Herrera and Rooney competing for those 3 places with Big nose, Rashford and Martial who can operate as the 1.

If required he could play in the two although not as affective.

As one of the 6 in midfield [emoji23][emoji6]

In all seriousness mate i can see him playing behind the striker in the three with Martial to his left and the Armenian to his right, Blind and A.N other behind him.

One thing is for sure there are going to be plenty of players unhappy in that dressing room with Rooney, Herairra , Young, Valencia, Carrick, Depay, Lingaard , Mata playing bit part roles.

I can see 2-3 of players in that list leaving as a bare minimum.

Where does Rooney play then? Also Pogba can't play as an out and out attacking mid.
