interesting thread. i understand not wanting him based off him being a rag, bad performances at United, injury record, bad attitude sometimes, and potential high wages. i also get the opinion that in the right conditions he could be a shrewd signing. but i don’t get why people think he’s a “****” and his “lifestyle” is contrary to who we normally sign. he just seems like a silly, outgoing, eccentric guy who likes have a bit of fun with his hair and through dancing. he’s not gonna be everyones cup of tea but some things said about him is a bit over the top. he’s 29 with a wife and kids, he lives a very uncontroversial life. yes he likes a bit of attention on the socials but Kev is doing TikTok vids now. nathan was doing TikTok dances during lockdown. he was once a world record signing who has underperformed in an underperforming team so he’s gonna get more scrutiny but you’d generally think he was a bad person reading some of these posts. we’ve all seen those vids of the City players have a GREAT time at Raheems (middle of the season) birthday party a few years back. Jack loves a drink. Phil can’t decide if we wants to be a brunette or a blonde. Kyle likes women a little too much. Stones been accused of some unsavory shit too. lets not act like we only sign Rodri’s and Bernardo’s.
IF this signing happens and that’s a big IF, I can’t really judge it until he’s here. on paper it makes a lot of sense if he’s coming to primarily play further up the pitch. Kev doesn’t need to play domestic cup games until the semi final stages or any dead rubbers in CL group stages. he’s also injured a lot, we can use another playmaker there. PP can play deeper too in emergencies but I wouldn’t want him as the pivot/Dinho replacement. so I agree PP + another midfielder who’s not a liability playing deeper makes sense. PP is crazy talented in possession. if this happens he’s gotta be willing to work harder off the ball and most likely take a wage cut. 2 year deal +1, imo. at his age and the frustrations of wasting his prime at United, I gotta believe he would do what it takes to make his next move a success (on the pitch, in the dressing room, etc…) esp. if he joins the noisy neighbors. in Pep I trust.
