Paul Power Turns 70

One I always remember when my dad started to take me to Maine Road. My dad's mate always used to call him "The Lemon", even if he'd had a decent game.

Always remember his crosses mainly going over the platt lane stand
Went to everton and turned into Roberto Carlos

Had a chat with him on the tram after an England ODI at the real Old Trafford, very nice guy. Loved that midfield with him, Gary Owen and Asa Hartford, all left footed I think? Very underrated player, the Ilkay Gundogan of his day in that respect. Never forget that goal at villa park. Happy birthday PP

Met Paul several times post match in the late 70's. A really genuinely nice bloke, approachable, down to earth and happy to have a chat to a group of annoying teenagers.

Happy birthday PP. I was in the old stand for that semi final goal. It was wooden in those days and rocked alarmingly when the ball went in.

Gave me and my Dad tickets for Everton FA Cup Quarter Final replay in 1981 - still the loudest I had ever experienced at Maine Road - and a signed photo as my mam had done his mams hair.
Loved him after that and was chuffed to bits for him that he won a league medal with Everton.

On a side note. We all agree to call him POW-ER right??, any of us subscribe to Porn Cinema regular Gerald Sinstads pronounciation of Paul Paaaar.
To be fair Geralds mind was a bit puddled having seen one too many a mucky movie. Dirty old man.
