I remember this incident. It was front page news at the time.During the Cheesy interview Simmo mentioned some fans had gotten into the dressing room at half time against Notts County wanting to remonstrate with the players. We were 3-0 down. Made me laugh. They must've been livid. Apparently big Mick McCarthy was the only one interested in arguing with them. Be interesting to see of any bluemooners know about this incident or had friends involved.
It was a potential promotion decider and we took 12,000 fans, taking over large parts of the ground. Typical City went 3-0 down at half time and a section of our fans rioted, ripping fences down and running on the pitch. Some of those fans invaded the dressing room and were giving abuse to the players and staff. Typical City again came out galvanised and pulled it back to 3-2. We then won promotion the follwoing week with a 5-1 win in front of a full house at Maine Road.
