Paul Simpson

Very good, skilful winger on his day(tormented the 'Udders 'defence in the 10:1). Would liked to have seen him at City for longer really but can hardly have been the most 'settled' of places to be,, at our Gaff in those days!
Was at that Coventry game at Maine Road in 82(we started that season reasonably well didn't we before it went totally tits up!).
As mentioned he seemed to 'disappear' for a while and reappeared for the 85 promotion run in (we certainly knew how to celebrate goals in those days) Was as the Pompey match, really big win as I think they ended up just missing out on Promotion in the end?
Horrible, horrible disease. Hopefully the fact he is still relatively young and certainly seems otherwise pretty fit helps him in fighting it.

Oh man I hadn’t heard about this. He’ll always be one of the first people who spring to mind when thoughts drift back to that glorious baking hot day at Maine Road in May 1985. Seen him several times on telly over the years and he always comes across as an absolutely top bloke.

Good luck Simmo.

Get better soon, Paul.

He was my absolute hero when I first went watching City. I can clearly remember watching him score against Blackburn Rovers in my first ever game on 21st January 1984 from the Kippax. My brother had told me at the start of the game that Simpson would score; he did and it was like magic to the 5 year-old me.

Uwe was touched by all the good wishes of City fans as he beat cancer. How do you let Simmo know we're still rooting for him?

I was convinced he would be an england star! On his day he was a brilliant footballer.
still had a fab career and much luck being sent his way from me!!
