PCP or PCH car leasing?

How long do you rent it for?
What is the approx cost for it?
I'm in Malaysia, so my answers wouldn't really help. But I was just wondering if there isn't an app like that in the UK nowadays. Over here, you can rent for any period from an hour upwards. Usually there's discounts the longer you rent for, obviously, so 10 hours and 24 hours basically cost the same because no-one wants it at night anyway. I usually use it for a day trip, but sometimes a long weekend away or something.

Anyone have a spare five mins over the next few days for a bit of help on this?

I'm at the point where I'm struggling a bit without a car (post separation/restarting in life).
The kids now live arounds 3 miles away and although I walk every where this isn't always an option. I've also started to (and wish to do far more) weekend trips.
My daughter struggles with anxieties (she's autistic) so can't get her on a train but there's so many more reasons I need a car.

Posted on the Electric Car thread that at the moment an EV isn't really an options (cost and I won't have home charging given I live in a flat).

Had a recent promotion at work (relatively new career so hoping these progressions continue) so have. bit of extra cash each month and absolutely believe having a car will solve so many problems and open up a bit of freedom for me.

With that in mind (and no real deposit) I was thinking of leasing but not 100% on which 'flavour'.
I have the VW T-roc in mind (and I feel the decision is part mind part heart...there's a fair bit to pay out for something you're not truly fond of).

I did stick a post about this on the main VW forum (volkswagonforum.co.uk) but complete tumble weed in terms of responses.
I might drop something on Honest John.

But if anyone doesn't mind PM'ing if they get a moment to help I'd be most grateful. I don't have a great history of cars so could do with a bit of ammo lest I don't get the best deal at the dealers.

Thanks!!
We got a PCH car from cinch and it's been spot on, I would recommend it based on our experience.

Used cars at the time were stupidly high priced near us - 10 year old Fiat 500s going for £1000s and I didn't want to take a loan out to buy an 8 year old car as in a few years I wouldn't want it as it starts to cost with MOTs etc.

We went to Fords of Winsford and sat in a few cars and decided what we wanted then compared the cost in cinch. It was much cheaper and we ended up with a 3 year old car with 1700 miles on the clock for 250 a month for 4 years with our old car as a deposit. Basically we rent a much newer car for 4 years then either hand it back or buy it.

For us, it's worked out great as we get a much better car for a decent monthly payment. However the trade off is we don't own it and won't own it in 4 years. It doesn't bother me so much as I don't want to own a 12 year old car etc. Some people won't like this though, it's not for everyone.

I would definitely recommend cinch, the whole process was spot on.

Hope it helps mate but feel free to PM me if you need any more info!

You have a pcp deal and not pch if you are able to buy it at the end of the term.
If pcp, you do also own the car as you are the registered owner on the log book.

What is the age thing?
I’m almost 60 and I’ve always bought cars with a personal loan or more recently with savings.. a monthly payment doesn’t feel right for me and I don’t believe in a monthly payment for something I’ll never own

We’ve got a new car arriving in October on the latest estimate which makes selling the current car a chore.. once the date is confirmed I’ll get it advertised.. we need a car at the minute so I might have to pay out for get new one then replace funds once the new one is here and we can sell the ePace

Not really what you asked, but are car sharing/renting apps an option? I don't have a car (nor kids, which makes things easier), but when I really need one, I have an app that shows cars to rent. There's an electric one just round the corner that I rent fairly regularly, and it's way cheaper than owning if it's only something you'll need occasionally. Obviously if you have to deal with stuff like kids' car seats, then it'd be nicer to have your own.
No unfortunately.
Have kids, (none under 13 now) and friends and family dotted up and down the country.

After the split the ex got the bigger family car (VW) & I had the little run around (Toyota). Both cars getting on a bit.
She eventually wore the VW down and claimed to have scrapped it, but may have sold it on (wasn't drivable at the time but I'm not fully sure what she did with it).

She then had the small Toyota as she needed it for her work and the kids live with her, so I was left with no car (hew new partner and my eldest has a car....so three cars to my none!)

Mentioned before I walk everywhere and use public transport if I go into the office (or to other offices we have around the UK) but I feel absolutely lost & landlocked without one now.

Today was a write off as I couldn't go anywhere.
I have NT membership but real options to go with there with the kids and yesterday to Buxton I had to borrow the aforementioned Toyota which is also on it's last legs. My daughter can't use public transport often without having panic attacks.
Things are going wrong with it constantly and if I'm borrowing it I'll be liable to to pay for fixes so I need to bail on that pronto (by sorting my own).

Yes - helpful mate.
Been discussed on here before but you'll end up paying whichever route you go down.
I'm not totally wedded to the VW T Roc but it looks ideal and our last VW was an utter work horse.

Was interested to see how warranty's work with leasing (I know so little about it atm, hence asking a few Qs on here).
Hyundai/Kia for example, are known for their 7 year warranty if buying.

Yeah - I might pick your brains further by PM if that's ok mate.

Are these the two types of leasing?
That's where I'm at - alsmot certain leasing is the best option (only, likely) but which type suits.

And also whether to use something Cinch or 'haggle' with a local dealer (there's a large VW deanship in Stockport opposite the pyramid.

Never had to 'haggle' with car dealers too and I'm not hugely savvy when it comes to cars (I've been under the bonnet a few times, changed batteries, a few electrical fuses, wheels etc....but I'm no wheeler dealer!!)

Take a look at a leasing broker. They will guide you towards the best deal/value for money across all of the makes/manufacturers rather than looking at one or two dealers.

Thanks - presumably something I can do online, or something I'll need to phone or make contact with personally?
