Yeah , i take your point , but the fact is that most of South Americas true stars tend to play in Europe (or want to) , and it's there where players , or managers , are really judged .....

the bottom line is that Pellegrini now has to follow , and hopefully improve on , the managerial record of Mancini in this country , which has been pretty good ...... he can change the style of play all he wants , but at the end of the day if he fails to win trophies he'll go exactly the same way as the guy who DID win a few trophies !

thats half-true, I don´t say that you are lying but the current situations is not the same as those years. When Pellegrini coached in argentina they were able to keep their best players a bit longer and didn´t sales them so easily. The level of southamerican competitions and Argentinian League in those years were quite higher than now

I sincerely hope that Manuel Pellegrini does well here ..... he appears to be a decent enough guy who's well respected in footballing circles , and he'll certainly have the full support of City fans .... most of us respected the excellent job that excellent Mancini did , and didn't want him to leave , but we will give the new manager our full backing .. as i'm sure , will the club itself.

The targets hes been given are tough , but he appears confident , and we wish him all the best ...

but Mancinis targets, had he stayed , wouldn't have been any easier ..... this club is 'expected' to deliver now .... it wants to grow , and to do that it needs consistent success , both ON and OFF the field.

Pellegrini has not won anything? Tell that to San Lorenzo fans:

the goalkeeper of Flamengo was Julio Cesar, yes the one at QPR, former Inter of Milan keeper

his record frankly speaks for itself

He's here now and people like me need to get over mancini and get behind him but what is this record people like you allude to? Just to remind you he's won one trophy in europe, that was 10 years ago and it was the intertoto cup.

He may turn out to be a great manager, he certainly seems like a classy guy but it's understandable the press are asking what's this guy actually won when some city fans are asking the same.

The type of management of players, style of football and progress with teams with low budget...

I like his first interview yesterday.Talking about what a fantastic squad he has.The easy part is saying you are going to win trophy after trophy. Its harder to do it.

The Barca guys were always going to want their own man.

Now it is time to get behind Pellegrini and look forward to what will hopefully be a great few years.

Why do people keep saying he's won nothing? He won the Argentine league twice with two clubs, and that is one of the top 10 leagues in world football. Not only that but it's a hugely competitive league and he managed River Plate who are a huge club who can get nearly 70,000 for some games. Some people act like football doesn't exist anywhere else in the world but the Brazilian and Argentinian leagues are big.
Great post.

What is Jo Brand doing there ? 44 seconds in

'Oooh Pellegrini, he's from Chile, he's got long hair
He was an engineer now he's coming over here
He's used to sunny Spain but he wants to see some rain'

Clutching at straws more like. Even if you accept that winning the Argentine league is a major trophy you are talking about something that happened over a decade ago.

That was back when Sven was a successful manager and Arsenal used to win things it was that long ago!

So what's your point?

Let's put it another way Wayne, if you had achieved wining a couple of league titles would you be happy about people dismissing them. Also Arsen is know as a top coach through out europe.

I have noticed that it's all about european honours now for some strange reason, seems that anything else since friday is not worth talking about.
