I'd say this is to head off the Pep speculation for the season and is largely meaningless.
Agree, plus if he does go next season he will get a good pay off what he deserves..

As I mentioned in another thread (Pep), notable that none of the media outlets saw this coming, and they can only blame themselves for that. If any of them had the intelligence to have a relationship with our media team they;d have seen this as a possibility, and have a juicy exclusive to fill their pages rather than made up stuff about wages and transfers and attention seeking ex-pros saying anything for a wad of cash.

Agree with this. Avoids a season where every loss would be assessed in the context of Pellers being a lame duck.Very clever by the club. Stops the Pep talk derailing the season.
