Pellegrini extends contract

So the general consensus seems to be that he's been given this contract extension to...

1. Keep the media off his back about Guardiola, and
2. Stop the players from possibly slacking off when they think he's not going to be around next season.

My only issue with this viewpoint is that loads on here think this is the case and have seen through this ruse but they're not expecting the media & the players to do the same.
In one.................

A contract extension means nothing in the managerial game. Come March 2016, about half of our 92 clubs will have a different manager than the one they started the season with. If Pep suddenly becomes available by then and other major clubs are taking a keen interest in him, the current status of MP and his squad will be of minor interest to our hierarchy.

Anyone given a thought that the management and owner anticipate that Mr Pellegrini will do well this year, and that a replacement as neither been considered or sourced. Let's face it if he was to repeat is first years achievements and reach the latter stages of the champions league, could you really expect a new manager to improve on that. If Pep is really interested in running the City team, why all this fucking about. Just do it!

I think its a bit naive to expect the media hype to just go away. The first bad result ,the first ill conceived managerial decision, the first bumbling post match excuse and they''ll be all over him like a pack of wolves. If Pep's deal is done then the worst kept secret is not going away.? So its not really a tactical masterstroke is it??
Maybe. But, at least give us some free space to move, air and a break to the always goin on bias media campaign against City, IMO.

Time will tell anyway...

contract extension means nothing...if he wins some silver, then ok,if not.....

Contract extension with likely performance clauses, it means nothing. I am just glad the club however is backing Pellegrini. The incentive is there to do well and only do well. Whether Guardiola is coming in right now is irrelevant and any decision should be based upon whether Pellegrini can show his best this season.
