Like I said yesterday a total farce. Surely we knew all if this when we were poaching around him for the last 6 months? So this begs another question. Are Fernandinho and Jesus Pellegrini signings or ones the chairman wants to play for us? I hope we aren't becoming the new Chelsea where the board want a player and the manager has to make it work - like Torres and Shevchenko.
The club have to tread very carefully here. People havily criticised the club executives over the perceived handling of the Mancini sacking so you can hardly complain if they're being more cautious this time.

There are third parties who want to disrupt us as much as possible at the moment and are waiting for a chance to screw this deal up if one presents itself. They are probably whispering in the Malaga's President's ear so we have to be extra careful we don't trip up this time. Pellegrini is 99% coming to City but we don't want to trigger that 1%.
Don't get that. Malaga have a new coach. Can the Malaga president block the deal to City, and even if he could, why would he?
If we play our cards right the 1% isn't in Malaga's hands & he can't do anything but he can make things more protracted than they need to be. The point was that, having been burned over Mancini, we need to learn and apply any lessons from that.

Well according to the BBC SPorts page:

Manuel Pellegrini's appointment as Manchester City manager is being held up by a £3.2m contract dispute with former club Malaga.

The say this is a quote from the Daily Mirror.

It's a strange case is this. Malaga owe MP backpay, yet they have a manager-in-waiting who is hardly likely to go there if he is going to have the same pay issues. Something isn't right here and I fear it is going to drag on. Surely it's in the best interest of all concerned if the appointments are made NOW?

No, it should read "...appointments are made CORRECTLY"

Why it's causing so many people so much discomfort that he hasn't signed yet I do not know

Too many people are activating their flapperons. Chill guys

so basically city are waiting to see if pellegrini gets paid before the end of the month and if he doesnt we wont have to pay the compensation fee to malaga cos he can walk away free. tbh i dont blame city for doing this then. he's agreed to join us its just a case of seeing if we can save a couple of million. may also have something to do with the isco transfer not going thru yet either. maybe a compromise will be done comcerning both deals re money from us?

Ian Cheeseman has tweeted some more info. Sorry if already covered. (EDIT ^^^ somebody beat me to it).

Basically it sounds like if Malaga don't pay up MP his wages (and presumably bonuses for achieving a Uefa cup place - despite them being banned), then he can claim constructive dismissal (or whatever the Spanish equivalent is - dismissalo de constructivo?) which nullifies his contract. Therefore he becomes a free agent and City don't need to pay the £3.2 mill compensation.

In summary MP is coming (and probably Isco too) but it may not happen until it needs to happen.

The entire British media is running it.

They'll have been digging around for some time, and the fact that none have come up with any horror stories (for us) is reassuring

From the Guardian
That's an off-the-record briefing by the club. The same kind of briefing which never came about mancini's future, and some of us kept saying was significant, and so it proved..
Didsbury Dave you are so clever.

You predicted over 12 months ago that mancini would get the sack, and over the course of the average tenure of a football manager you were eventually right. For your next trick you could tell us that Pellegrini will be sacked before he is even appointed and of course you will eventually be proved right.

I'd rather be blinded by loyalty.

One of my pet hates is turning on 606 on the radio and listening to the clamour from Arsenal and Chelsea fans to sack their manager

Ooooooooh.

Still hurting, eh? I can understand that.

"I'd rather be blinded by loyalty" gave me a little smile, though. By that you mean you're just another daft football fan without the means to critically appraise anything within your own club.

Not your fault, I suppose. There are many like you. But I wouldn't wear this ignorance like a badge of honour if I were you.

We've had plenty of experience in appointing managers and we should know all the ins and outs of it by now.

-- Fri Jun 14, 2013 10:19 am --

If what you say is correct, that will explain it. But lawsuits can take considerable time and this isn't going to help us any.

Sorry but this just doesn't make any sense. Why don't Malaga just pay his wages & the City will pay the Compensation. Its a no brainer or am i missing something.
