Like I said yesterday a total farce. Surely we knew all if this when we were poaching around him for the last 6 months? So this begs another question. Are Fernandinho and Jesus Pellegrini signings or ones the chairman wants to play for us? I hope we aren't becoming the new Chelsea where the board want a player and the manager has to make it work - like Torres and Shevchenko.

Did the DoF concept pass you by?

I am actually not that bothered how long it takes. I like the thought of the club having no first team coach. I think the way forward is to let the players manage the whole thing between themselves. Let them earn their money and let them take the crap when they play crap. Let them organise training sessions that they all like. Of course this is not going to happen but It is nice thought.

Nice idea. Is that 'holistic' ? Can just see the post-match interview with Zabba...so Pablo, why did Nasri emerge after half-time with a broken nose ? PZ - "We decided he was playing like a French tw*t so decided so sort him out the Argentinian way !...I've dropped him for next week's match."

If true this is a farce for Malaga fans. An opportunity for us.

He is effectively our coach but Txixi is in charge of Football operations and consults the manager. If you don't like the Football Director concept, fair enough, but it is used by most of Europe's most successful clubs. And the fact that they are successful - Bayern Munich and Barcelona suggests there's nothing wrong with the model.

Clearly important to have the right Director of Football in place as effectively you're passing some of the manager's responsibilities to someone else and they can still make a mess of it.

In some clubs, the President, or owner seems to deal with player recruitment, and that's where it falls down - they don't know what they are doing. At City I think the owner knows he doesn't know, or maybe doesn't have the time so he has recruited the best in the business to run the football operation.

The great thing about having a Director of Football is that the manager/coach is usually selected because he represents concepts created by the DOF. Its never going to be a Hughes-to-Mancini scenario where we have to completely revamp, we just hire a manger with the same concepts we've been striving for (but can execute them to detail)... Unless of course we fire the DoF. Then were... well effed.

Don't know how true it is, but Just heard a report, on talkshite, saying that Pelegrini hasn't been paid by Malaga for 2 months, and if they haven't fully settled up with him by next months due date, he can walk away for nothing... Thus saving us 3 million...

Great piece of business by Tikki & Soliano if true

Yes but doesn't bode we'll for any ongoing Isco negotiations unfortunately.
Why?

They are the ones who haven't paid Pellegrini, we are not holding him locked up in Barca so he can't get to the bank and cash his cheque!

What farce are you on about?

The farce that 2 top class players have signed. The fact that City are saving over £3m. The fact that it has been made clear that meetings with the new manager have been held to discuss targets. But just because it hasnt been announced as quickly as YOU would like you continue to have a pop at the club

Grow up or at least stop throwing your toys out the pram

Well according to the BBC SPorts page:

Manuel Pellegrini's appointment as Manchester City manager is being held up by a £3.2m contract dispute with former club Malaga.

The say this is a quote from the Daily Mirror.
