It sounds plausible that PSG may have thrown an offer his way, though I thought the rumour was that they still hope to take Wenger in a year's time and will look for someone to mind the shop until then. As we discussed before, Klopp would have been great but he seems completely committed to Dortmund for the time.

Funny you should mention Wenger - was talking to a friend here in Paris last night who was saying that actually what QSI want is Wenger as DoF rather than manager. I can see that being the perfect semi retirement gig for him!

All will become clearer for PSG next week when the results of their appeal against Leonardo's 9 month ban are in. If it's upheld, the shit will hit the fan, and I suspect he'll get sacked. Which will mean QSI will have no manager and no DoF.

Interesting times with Monaco building a formidable team.

I'm sure he'll be coming to city.

However. ...

...if he does turn us down we simply must sack the Spanish duo. To sack the premier league's best manager (after Ferguson resigned) without making 100% certain of a replacement is surely cause for summary dismissal.

The only thing to do then would be to crawl back to Bobby on bended knee, offer to double his salary, and beg him to come back.

(Assuming you're being serious) Words fail me.....

That's Navas out then.

-- Sat Jun 08, 2013 12:19 pm --

I was greatly cheered by what Guillem Balague said on TV recently: "If Man City get Pellegrini, they will not be getting a good manager - they'll be getting a VERY good manager". Balague knows a lot more about Spanish football than most of our journos, and I respect his views. He also said that MP will get his players playing for him and playing together.
I look forward to good times.

"IF Man City get Pellegrini..."

I assume he meant WHEN...

Very interesting for the grass is greener angle too. A few months ago it looked like PSG had really nailed the rich man's takeover gig, got a world class manager in, proper DoF, attracted better players quicker, going toe to toe with Barca in the Champions league way ahead of us. Now they're looking like they could be without either, and even Ibra would walk out given a half decent offer.

Anyone else feel they might be a few extra cheeky surprises when they announce pelle on Monday..??

Can imagine that the DoF role in a year's time would be right up Wenger's street. Interesting times for PSG, though. Although even if they're in something of a state of flux this year, I reckon they'll still win the French league (I suspect Monaco's team, whoever they end up with at their club). At any rate, both they and Monaco should be set for regular CL last 16 or last 8 appearances in the years to come, I suspect.

I'd have thought that Pellegrini has more of a cultural affinity for our project, but I suppose a huge financial offer could tempt him away. Hope not - after researching him, I was getting quite excited about the qualities he may bring to the Etihad. :)

Incidentally, oddschecker suggests that Laurent Blanc is now the favourite for PSG but Twitter last night had him strongly rumoured to have done a deal with Real Sociedad. And the English bookies have a certain Signor Mancini as the next favourite for the Parc des Princes. I can imagine you'd be simply enraptured by such a turn of events! :)
