Tell you what cleavers, listened to Martyn Tyler earlier and he gave a superb anology about the England set up and how many under 21 players were actually called up by Pearce and didn`t give a fuck about playing.
Sad state of affairs but honestly a superb piece by Tyler.
Got a link Oakie?

It was on SS1 after tonights game and he and Swanson were outside the England Teams Hotel,so I`m certain it would be SS1 News at 10.00 pm tonight mate.

Not that much, is part of the Holistic approach of City and Pellegrini is part of that approach :-p, son don´t worry. By the way, Why the FA didn´t try to apply the German system and force all the clubs to invest into their academys and try to develop professionals coachs for this youth academys. In this issue I think City is one step ahead of most of the other premier league clubs.
Unfortunately LEDC, the problem is long in the making in England.

I've been involved in youth football (as a know nothing dad admittedly, though I'd like to think I could spot good players between 10 and 15 years old), and I've seen how downright awful the system is. I've seen very talented (skilful and clever) kids get sidelined, whilst others who were "quick" or "strong", but frankly had little else to offer, get signed up by academies, then mostly get discarded a year or 2 later. Chelsea for one, were dreadful at this practise, they had no interest in the kid, just the monetary value of the kid.

The small clubs too (I've experience of Oxford United) were only interested in future cash value, though admittedly I'm no longer involved enough to know either clubs current strategy.

This is why I do seriously think that City have a good future plan, I hope they can stick with it, and maybe they can develop local talent, but that still involves having enough people out there looking for it. I hope we can develop our own ,and not follow the united/arsenal model of buying it from elsewhere. Early signs are not that positive though, if we are (still) buying 15 year olds from Sweden.

Don't mean to go off topic but do you have any idea how to get into coaching Cleavers? I'm looking at doing coaching

I don't care if the England U-21s were all 2nd choice, they can't control a ball.

I was only involved at school and local level as a dad, so no not really, unless you start there, and then do your coaching badges yourself. Beyond the basic level they get pretty expensive though.

I got involved because nobody else wanted to do it at my kids primary school, and football would have ended if nobody had volunteered, and because I also loved football and couldn't play anymore. I did it for about 10 years with no qualifications, and went up to about 16 year olds eventually, and therein lies the real problem in this country, as the majority involved follow the same route. (I also managed an adult team about 25 years ago whilst working with the armed forces)

I've seen some truly awful people involved in coaching kids (and a few good ones too).

Good luck.

The truth is if you offered the average English youth coach the choice of a young Iniesta, Messi, Neymar and Xavi or a young Heskey, usain Bolt, John Regis and Aaron Lennon they would go for the latter group every time . Obsessed with pace and size and don't understand touch a d technique

True. Don't forget that player is supposed to run a lot even if it means heck all. If he runs a lot he is propa player.

This is a major misconception. The fact that a player has pace and size does not necessarily mean that he is not technically gifted and vice versa. This is the sort of stereotypical drivel that is been forced down our throats by the media.

Players like Iniesta and Messi are incredible talents with great technical ability but they also have strength, pace, great balance, great center of gravity and are very aggressive. You cannot be a genuine world class star without having the physical attributes as well as the technical ability. Unfortunately it seems that one aspect is being overlooked in favour of the other when it comes to assessing the qualities and worth of a player and the assessment if often now based on the appearance.-e.g Yaya is all about pace and power whilst iniesta is all about technique, vision, creativity etc. This is a bloody shame.

Milner is better than nasri at the moment.. I would be quicker to bench nasri instead

If city were to sell Milner what clubs would be interested? this will tell you if he is good enough to be classed as a top draw player

I made this point on another thread, i like Milner, hes a solid 7/10 player who is good for the squad but do not think he is goid enough for our best 11.
