They have to qualify for the europa to serve the ban I think.
Yeah, they're not banned from Europe next season, they are banned from Europe in the next season they actually qualify. So, if they fail to qualify for the Europa League in for the 20013-14 season, then they will still have a 1 year ban awaiting them the next time they do qualify.

Didn't and still don't understand the Pep deal. Salfordpaul has a decent rep on here, but are there any get out clauses for either party, for whatever reason that may be? What if he flops in Bayern? What if we haven't won anything by then and he sees us as a bit of a hopeless task?

Pellegrini already has an agreement with Malaga to leave

Pellegrini already has an agreement to terminate his contract with Malaga at the conclusion of the season. The Chilean coach with contract until June 30, 2015, has agreed with the owners that if want to leave at the end of the season (already has an agreement with Manchester City as published AS days ago) the club will not object and give free rein to his departure without demanding four million stipulated in the termination clause of the Chilean. Yes, the Malaga will pay to the last euro that corresponds to the day of his departure.

The good relations from day between the coach and the club's owners have allowed this entente cordiale. Sheikh Al-Thani and his executive vice Moayad shatat consider Pellegrini leaning shoulder and helped to shore up and maintain frontline to the white team when problems were of enormous depth, so you do not have the slightest problem when the Engineer has raised the possibility of leaving this season. The City and Pellegrini awaits with open arms.

Somebody else posted exactly that as 'done' a couple of weeks ago.

Salfordpaul has a track record of getting things right

Why didn't he just come straight here instead of going to Bayern?

Was it simply because Mancini was 'safe' at that point?

This set up, if it is what unfolds, just seems a little odd? Something doesn't quite add up.
