We will not be as ready as we would like to be. Can't be in the time available. Its a case of making the best of a bad job. People need to be patient if there a couple of early season setbacks.
Good luck with that one, if we lose on Sunday, there'll be people on here demanding a new manager.

Of course we won't be as ready as we want to be, but would you swap with united, despite them being the world guinness champions, or liverpoool who have sold their best asset and bought half of southampton, and got another runner up medal, or arsenal losing vermaelen, now they need to look for a replacement (even if he wasn't first choice) ?

The point being most clubs up the top won't be ready, its not a "bad job" as you say, its just how it is, and we're far from alone.

We're certainly not alone, but our particular problem is the disruption to our defense. It wouldn't be a problem if the absentees were spread evenly through the team but the concentration of defenders makes it worse for us. And if the plan were to return to the back 4 (5 if you count both Kolarov and Clichy) that finished last season it wouldn't be an issue for more than a couple of games. But it seems we will also be trying to integrate Managala, assuming he does sign, as a first choice CB and also give game time to Sagna and possibly Nastasic.

I think it will be some time before we will have a settled defense and can see us having a few wobbles in the process. I'm not blaming anyone for that just saying that we will need to be patient.

Absolute genius at handling the media. Gives them nothing to write a headline with. I can see in future he will simply press play on a tape recorder and tell them what he wants them to know rather than what they want to hear.

Completely agree - made me laugh all last season when there were Blues on here moaning that MP's press conferences were dull and boring. He's dealing with some absolute subhuman scum. I'm personally delighted he gives them fuck all and if they ask a shit question twice they get the death stare.

The press have no idea how to deal with him he gives them nothing and when he does the Headline is longer than the quote
he brings a certain dignity to the club and has proven he is a winner

This !

Maybe he is keeping these players fresh, while giving some of our second string valuable experience while he has the chance. It's gonna be a tough season and he needs to know what squad members can contribute if required.
Keep the faith in Pellegrini

Good press conference... It's strange, he is a lovely charming bloke yet looks like a Clint Eastwood villain

Just watched this in full for the first time. Just love the way he calmly and effectively answers each question whilst giving nothing away. After the Mancini hysterics with the press at times this 'cool' approach is simply brilliant. He won't be drawn into anything he doesn't wish to discuss and it's fantastic. No mind games with this fella, he's beyond that. I'm very, very happy this fella is the manager of our great club. 'Cool Hand Luke' as Niall Quinn calls he is extremely apt.
