Obsessed?

No!

Just interested that's all.

Let's see how it plays out.

No doubt there will be plenty to discuss eitherway.
Not having a go at you personally mate. It's just something I've noticed amongst us all. Everyone's instinct is 'what will the media say' when in reality it doesn't matter.

No probs Dave.

Perhaps I did come across apprehensive, pessimistic, and negative.

Saying that, just for once I'd like to see a positive press conference instead of the usual......

I'm sure you know what I mean Dave.

Looking forward to it like the rest on here. :-)

I don't think you'll find it 'negative' at all. I would say he will handle it fine. They might put txiki with him too who will take it in his stride. Is his English up to it?

Not a popular view I would guess, but for me the way the sacking and imminent appointment have been handled leaves little room for negative spin. We look like a well run club with a vision and high standards. Which is what we are now.

I think the circus style build up and subsequent media frenzy surrounding Mourhinho's reappointment is a major reason we have not attempted to secure his signature.

Saying that, the man himself has certainly played down his return as much as possible and is coming across as calm and understated - a far cry from the cockiness and arrogance of a decade ago.

Let's wait and see what happens when Pelle is appointed,i expect a different slant.

God almighty, a section of our fans are totally fucking obsessed by the media and the way they report city. Both managers will give press conferences, both will be asked peachy questions by the locals and be supposedly 'challenged' by the nationals looking for an angle. That's how it works.

Mourinho will be asked how he's going to handle roman, terry etc, and whether coming back was a good idea.

Pellegrini will be asked if Mamcini's sacking puts pressure on him, whether he can work with an expectant d of f, etc.

Both will get loads of questions about targets, signings etc. Both will bat them back, and the press might get the odd nugget.

Big deal.
All of this is pretty accurate.

All in stark contrast to Moyes' coronation on July 1st and the effete way the press will handle that, no doubt. Surely if any of the big appointments have serious question marks attached to them, especially in light of who he is replacing, then surely that is it.

There will be plenty of sycophancy but the first question on every journos list will be 'how much involvement so you expect from air Alex' and it should be followed by 'how will you cope in Europe'. He'll have his answers down pat of course, as should pellegrini

If this farce of appointing a manager goes on much longer the press will all be on holiday. Maybe that's the reason for the delay!

I am not sure why it is taking so long. When added to the rest of the behind the scenes crap we have been seeing in recent weeks, it is poor.

What are you talking about. We have signed 2 players we have started a franchise in the US and we will soon be appointing a new manager who may be introduced with another new signing...................that is brilliant and so far ahead of all our rivals some people need to give their heads a wobble!!!!

Great shout, the paranoia on this site to the press is plain crazy. People need to grow a pair. I am sure Manuel Pellegrini has a huge pair, and dealing witht he English press will be childs play after 12 months in Madrid.

I think we should just skip the presser all together, just keep on doing things on our terms. I hope we'll see a new improved media-handling manner, that we never feed them vultures with anything at all.

Restrict media to only ask questions related to the game in question at pre- and post matches. Totally ignore other questions and ban the a-holes who insists of breaking OUR rules.

I think we'll find that the orders have already gone out in brown paper envelopes from OT telling the hacks what approach to take to Pellegrini. "Worst kept secret in football" at the Etihad v "seemless transition at OT", "Buying foreigners" v "developing young British talent". "Malaga are banned from European competition, Mr P. City are going to fail FFPR too, aren't thet." That kind of thing, I suspect.

A much easier ride for Jose...

And...

"How many games have you been given to keep your job?"

How could I forget that one! Is it true Mr Pellegrini that City have win all their pre-season games or else....?
