Penalty Taker

Need to practice these in training now that Mahrez is off for a month or so.

What makes you think we will get another penalty after the stick we took from the media after the Arsenal one. ;-)

I was meaning in a more general sense as the odds of a penalty shootout are now more realistic

In the days of Yaya and Balotelli I would have backed City against anyone in a shootout. Not anymore.

Sterling has clearly been practicing them and putting his name forward to take them this season, probably because of the Euro 2020 final.

I wouldn't be surprised if he took any while Mahrez was gone.

Obviously "touch wood" but we seem to be lifting the ball now when taking them. Invariably a keeper dives low so giving the taker greater odds

I noticed the same. Looks like some attention has been paid on the training ground.

The last 3 pens (2 Mahrez, 1 Sterling) have been placed where they cannot be saved.

That’s correct. Before losing at West Ham this season, we’d won seven shootouts on the bounce going back to 2008-09.

Agree, both pens against Leicester were so similar as well, but Mahrez looks so confident right now.

Only problem is he tends to go the same way so if he doesn’t hit top corner side netting there is a chance the keeper getting something on it

Mostly a while back. But yes there was a paradoxical period where our game penalty-taking was kindergarten standard while we somehow held our nerve in the shootouts.

Not sure why KDB stopped taking them. He looked pretty good (remember that ice cool clincher against Real). Then missed one against the Scousers (which is an annual event for us) and never seen since.

Agree. A pro player should be able to thunderbastard it at eye level and slightlyto one side. No keeper is saving it, they all prefer not to because of fear of spooning it.

What about Grealish, did he take them at AV ?
