Aiming for a top corner increased the chance of missing the target on the double either wide or over. Also keepers tend to favour shots aimed higher rather than ones directed lower. While the penalty aimed precisely at the top corner may be almost impossible to save it comes with very little margin for error. Our problems at present is almost certainly more to do with psychology then technique. This might be a gig for the therapist.
I agree with you Paul, it does become a psychological issue the more you miss, with different takes. On a completely different level, the team i played for continued to miss pen's one season and after we had missed one in a match, we got another and the lack of people wanting to take it was incredible! So, i stormed up (i was a keeper) put the ball on the spot and well basically twatted it and it flew in! it was my first and only penalty for the team as after that, they honestly thought the hoodoo was broken and then everyone was willing to step up and take one!
Could be what we need, for Eddie to do exactly the same!!
