Wi' a pair of those old boots came over the ankle and had a stout strap 'o leather complete with a bulbous toecap. Yer would have had to have been careful wi' the dubbin. Too much on the toe cap and the ball could have spun out for a throw in!

On the other hand there would be no chance of slipping on the run up with those old leather studs with the nails sticking out the bottom !

Should we even shoot when we get a penalty?

I know people think this is disrespectful but I would love to see us try it if we get a pen whilst a few up against one of the Hateful Eight. Bernado in the Olsen role and Ederson to take, pass the shoot.
Imagine the gnashing of teeth if Eddie scored from open play in that way!

What's the rules, if we are awarded a penalty and decide Eddie will take it. Could we nominate say Walker as goalkeeper if he was on the field already until the next stoppage in play after the pen and then swap Eddie and Walker back again to put Eddie back as GK ?

I've still got an old Cobbler''s Last, just like the one my Dad used to use to stud me & Our Kid's footy boots. It's now a garden ornament - once an essential part of a household, now consigned to being a quaint old artefact of a bygone age.
Quite a few friends over the years have asked "What's that ?" Some people know nowt. :-)
