Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

The penalties we have missed have been awful generally. I am surprised De Bruyne doesn't step up but Aguero and Jesus will continue to sant to take them as long as they are on the pitch. Aguero's was poor on Saturday and Jesus' never seem particularly good. Gundogan missed one but is usually good. De Bruyne should just brush them aside and take the ball and take the penalties.

If he is on the pitch he should be taking them.
Didn't he miss the last one he took for us, a few years ago though think it was against Everton, when Silva missed as well.

He kicked 2 goal kicks straight off the side of the pitch against Leicester, maybe he needs more practice yet
Gois morning, are you saying his distribution as a keeper is poor? With all due respect I think you will find you are in a small minority with that view point. If you are not, can I ask what you are implying? Even the best can have an off day can they not?

One of the best pens I’ve seen was the one gundogan scored at Wembley against spurs. Although since then he’s been scoring them, but not particularly convincingly. They’ve been scruffy efforts that only just sneaked in. I can’t say I was that surprised when he eventually missed, it seemed like a matter of time. And, of course, he’s not always on the pitch when we’re awarded a pen. I think if Sergio still wants to take them I’d stick with him for a bit longer. But get kdb to step up his penalty practice.

With due respect, Are you putting words in my mouth?
I think if you read it properly I said he kicked the ball off the pitch twice against Leicester and maybe therefore needs a bit more practice . Anyhow I very much doubt it will happen apart from maybe a shoot out in a final, and if he does miss I’ll get ack to you.

One of the best was Sterling’s at Watford. Great pen.

I don't see what relevance it is to him taking. a penalty kick. Presumably you don't thinking would be any good based on him kicking to touch twice in a game. Otherwise why bring it up? If I have got the wrong end of the stick please explain.

Practice putting them in the top corner either side. Keepers never save them.

Practice, repetition, it isn't rocket science. Christ knows what's up with our lot.

Aguero actually took that pen better than he normally does, I haven't liked his technique for years. If it went in it was fine but it never seemed to have enough power on it. Aguero has now changed to more power but just had no placement in it.

Have to think that any midfielders or forwards we are looking at in the summer will be considered for penalty duty.

Keepers never save pens in the top corner. Partly because if they’re perfectly placed they’re impossible to save, partly because keepers always dive low. But if players only, or nearly always, put them in the top corner, wouldn’t that change? Keepers would dive high rather than low. They still wouldn’t save a perfectly struck penalty, but the margin for error would greatly reduce. So the pressure on the penalty taker to put them absolutely right into the top corner would increase. And then they would start missing.
