Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

It's not simply a question of technique, but mentality.

Aguero, Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus, they have always let the moment get to them.

Tevez was the same, just opting to smash and hope in the end.

This applies to the same current players when they have too much time to think about a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Think Gundo and Kev deserve to rotate if required.

Does KDB have the mentality to take penalties when he ducked the responsibility yesterday despite being captain and designated taker?

Pep said Sterling took it because no one else wanted to, which suggests Gundo wasn't keen either, or at least not assertive.

Pep said that Kev was knackered after chasing the ball down for the penalty, he was certainly puffing hard in the final 15?

Sounds plausible that Raheem also asserted his desire to take it it, wanting to get his own numbers up, which would also lend itself to Pep praising Sterling in the aftermath for having the courage to step forward, perhaps?

You never know with Pep when he is just protecting people in public.

That’s such bullshit though, and I think even Pep alluded to that as an excuse for Kev passing it off. Christ, if you can’t take a 4 step run up and smack a ball in the net at that point cos you’re too tired, lol.
It’s not as daft as it seems.
When you’ve burned all your energy. Even the simple things become difficult. Even for De Bruyne.

Gabriel Jesus was an advertisement for the dangers of Covid-19. I’ve never seen him so drained. I bet that was the longest ten minutes of his life.

Champions League final.
Score level.
Last seconds.
Best 11 are on the pitch.
Penalty awarded to City.

Who takes it?
I'll go one better...
CL final playing Liverpool, scores are level after extra time and the game goes to penalties. What would be your order of the takers?

It's not like we're taking a penalty in front of a baying Kop end at Anfield in the last minute and it gets the better of the taker and they sky it (yes, I know we'd never get awarded a penalty in such circumstances but my point still stands). There should be very little pressure on a taker in the current empty stadiums.
At most clubs someone is the king penalty taker. They are licking their chops at the prospect of burying it, padding their stats, showing they've got the balls and the skill to step up and score. With Fernandes, Milner, Vardy they exude confidence from the moment they pick up the ball and put it on the spot. You don't expect them to miss. With City, it's the total opposite - everyone shies away and hopes someone else will volunteer to take it.
The whole thing is bizarre and it needs sorting.

That fella last night looked terrified taking the pen. Oh the pressure, 1-0 up, injury time in an empty stadium. No nasty scousers booing. Jesus wept.

Let the youngsters have a go. Foden or Torres, provided they’re on the pitch.
They can’t do any worse than the rest of them.

I bet there wasn't a single City fan that was confident he would put that away. Problem with Raz he's not a natural striker of the ball like Gundagon, Phil or Kev. I'm not sure why they put that burden on him.

Agree 100%. After Kev had his problem against Liverpool, I’d go for Gundo or Cancello from last night. If Foden had still been on I would have given it to him.

Perhaps we can get Mario to come and give the lads a few tips on how to take a penalty. He made it look easy and we knew it was a goal a as soon as the pen was awarded. Unlike now when we don’t even know who will be taking it. Raz should definitely not be anywhere near penalties, except maybe in a shoot out when for some odd reason they all do much better.
