Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

Of the players most likely to be on the pitch I think I'd fancy Cancelo. He's usually pretty confident.

I'd imagine Alvarez is decent as well.

I would pick Gundogan but I think he's less likely to be on the pitch all of the time.

Trouble with deciding who looks like they should be good on pens, so often proves to be inaccurate in real life. Take DeBruyne. Surely to fuck with the skills he’s got you’d imagine he’d be able to pop them in all four corners at will and never give a ‘keeper a change? He’s actually 8-2 which isn’t too bad but I’m pretty sure he’s made it clear that he isn’t interested in taking them for some reason.

Back in the 70s, the two best penalty takers I can remember were Phil Neale and Ray Stewart. Both old fashioned full backs who’d you never pick out as potential penalty takers. And what can you say about Steve Bruce? He could hardly pass a ball two yards without sending a telegram ahead but I think he scored 11 in that season where he scored 19 in total.

I guess the vast majority of professional footballers should be capable of slotting home 80% of pens in a no pressure situation. All comes down to confidence I expect.

Ray Stewart, great penalty taker, he just seemed to 'twat it' and it was in the net.
Like most fans, I kind of expect my team to miss and the other seem to score them. Sergio was a phenomenal goalscorer, but he missed a few over the years.
As others have said ,Ya Ya and Mario always inspired confidence (Balotelli seemed too confident sometimes) Going back, always had confidence in Dennis Tueart, though I think he missed two pens in one game once
Can't remember any other City player doing that (I'm sure someone probably has?!)
