No one's mentioned how much money they've saved or not spent

Ive saved the cost of about 300 bottles of wine

and about 6 beers a week X 80 weeks = around 500 beers

whatever that costs

Your liver?

that as well

let me say this

drinking is a very unhealthy thing to do to your body and your brain, I wish Id quit 30 years ago

I could quit boozing, and live to 90. Or I could keep boozing, where everything looks rosy instead of grey, and still live a long, but more enjoyable life. Some health freaks pop their clogs at 25 years of age. So live life and do whatever makes you happy.Jeez I sound like Fetlocks, only less condescending ;-)

I have mentioned on several posts that both my Grandfathers lived to the ripe old age of 98 and 3/4. What I didn't mention was that both of them drank alcohol until their end.

Put that into the mix.

Im not moralising

A person must do what they think is right for them, I dont preach about it all Im saying is I wish Id quit 30 years ago

Same as I wish Id never smoked for 25 years, its a personal decision, people have to live theyre own lives and make theyre own decisions

Do you regret 30 years of drinking though. If you had not had any health issues, would you still be boozing? You mustve enjoyed it to a degree. I admit I feel good within about 3 days of not drinking, but I like having a few beers and am prepared to pay the price.

I wish Id quit when I was 30, I had a great time drinking in my younger days but now at 61, I find I want to live as long as I can (healthily) I love being alive, I love what I do, so I wish Id quit 31 years ago, I just think Id be all the better for it now - but who knows, all I know is I was kinda forced to cut back (although I could still have 2 drinks a day) but I just though, pack it in altogether and I feel a lot of benefits after 18 months
