Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

Pep has also showed alot of complacency in recent games, hopefully they all wake up now.
I see it slightly differently now after listening to Peps comments.

I think he's been picking these 'strange' looking sides because he's been looking for a catalyst to change the attitude.

And reading between the lines I get the impression that the so called big name players are not doing enough in training.

Hence him sticking with what we would consider the 2nd choice players in some positions.

All this talk about ticket prices is irrelevant. The stadium is pretty much full. Its not really about the attendance, its the noise level Pep wants to raise.

The correlation between ticket prices and the type of people who are in attendance are completely relevant.

Do you think the Chinese couple sat a few seats down from me taking selfies were going nuts?

They were happy enough and seemed to have had a good spend at the Store, but they are paying a premium to attend and can decide how they show any support.

For me, anyone who pays a ticket, is already delivering the ultimate in support.

Couple of hundred thousand City fans sat at home who can't afford to go, yet the Club could easily do something about the pricing to encourage more locals to attend with the legacy fans.

The silver season card shows how much they want the locals mate. No chance

A point that’s kind of been lost is that it seems Pep is not too happy with the board either and he’s playing a bit of a public game with them to get more players in the summer. In my opinion, making a point that our net spend is not that high lately compared to our rivals and saying he wants more from “the whole organisation”, can only mean one thing… even the board are resting on their laurels. Pep has probably laid out to them how much of an overhaul is needed for us to be winners again, and they mustn’t agree. First signs of a disagreement between him and the board imo. At least in public anyway. He’s at war with board, players and fans and I find myself 100% on his side. He knows what it takes to win, and to win consistently. And we don’t have it any more.
100% correct

We have 36,000 season tickets. Most of those will be long standing and enough to make a noise. There are enough fans to make a noise, we just don't do it often enough. Of course we get day trippers who don't know the songs or feel the need to be vocal, they are a minority.

Fair point re injuries, but he was alternating constantly even when they were fit. We have known for ages that Cancelo is useless at RB, the fact that he got replaced in the national team in the WC but that the Portuguese Danny Mills at the rags proves it further. I honestly thought he was one of our better players in the derby. I love Zinny but he always wasn't very attacking, the problem now is that we have a guy up front that feeds on deliveries but we don't have any player in the fullback positions (other than Cancelo) that can provide.
But he has been pretty average at best this season bar the odd game hence the reason he keeps getting dropped. This is the type of player Pep is talking about. There are a few on easy street and he is one of them. Hopefully they will all wake up now and start fighting and playing again. The shift in attitude in the second half was clear after what was no doubt a severe bollocking at HT. We didn’t play that badly first half and had a couple of good chances but the goals we gifted were an absolute joke and he is right in highlighting that if we carry on playing like this and gifting goals, we will not be winning anything. It’s all about attitude regardless of who steps on the pitch and we haven’t had the right one in lots of games recently which started against Brentford. If players don’t want to be here then get rid of them and that includes Bernado. If they are not good enough anymore then get rid.

There are a number of factors in play here.

If you take the current mood of your average legacy fan right now….. We’ve just watched the second corruptly awarded World Cup in a row. We come back from a World Cup break to have coins and spit rained down on us in the South Stand from scousers. The club refused to blame Liverpool fans whilst asking City fans in Level 2 whether they have any footage of the alleged incidents. My phone doesn’t film through underneath of a tier. It was a derisory response. They then repeated the trick with Chelsea. Then we watched plain, bare faced cheating at Old Trafford from match officials endorsed by the Premier League to protect their product abroad. No complaints from the club or Pep.
Seems to me they want passion from the fans that they treat with disdain. I just have a season ticket and I’m in the cup scheme to attend all the home games. I’m not a proper fan who is active across several social media platforms, manically liking and sharing all things Manchester City.

You reap what you sow City. If you show some fight, and prove you‘re in my corner, so will I.
